In its tradition of bringing the best drama series on television, ABS-CBN has partnered with Precious Heart Romances in coming up with teleseryes based on well-loved romance novels. The Kapamilya network and one of the leading publishers of romance pocket books have signed the deal last February 12. Present in the contract signing were ABS-CBN Head for TV Production Cory V. Vidanes, Direk Lauren Dyogi Precious Heart Romances Publisher Jun Matias, and Precious Heart Editor-in-Chief Edith Garcia.
Direk Lauren will be spearheading this project and he talked about what viewers can expect from these stories. “First time ito for ABS-CBN that we acquired lots of titles para gawing teleserye. Gagawin natin ang ‘Bud Brothers’ na isinulat ni Rose Tan at ‘Kristine’ na isinulat ni Martha Cecilia. Usong uso naman ngayon ‘yung libro na ginagawang TV series o pelikula tulad ng Harry Potter at Twilight. Maraming elemento sa libro ang sigurado akong magugustuhan ng mga tao kapag napanood nila sa TV. ‘Yung mga libro nina Rose Tan, Martha Cecilia, at iba pang writers, binabasa mo pa lang nakikita mo na kung paano siya lalabas sa telebisyon. Ang lakas ng kilig, ng romance element, kaya maraming makaka-relate.”
Publisher Jun Matias said that he is honored with the trust that ABS-CBN gave to their books. “Masaya kami. Noong una pa lang, sa 18 years ng Precious Heart, nakikita ko nang may potential ang mga books namin na magawa into TV or movie. I think now it’s about time kasi malaki talaga ang market ng romance pocket books. Hindi ako naniniwalang hindi nagbabasa ang Pinoy kasi ang sales namin sa Precious Heart, kahit wala kaming promo, bumebenta kami. Also most of Hollywood films ngayon based na rin sa mga books. Ngayon may market na ang mga books namin, confident kami at ang ABS-CBN na may makukuha market sa TV.”
Matias added that he is very confident ABS-CBN will do justice in translating their pocket book stories into teleserye. “We trust ABS-CBN. Malaki na ang napatunayan nila. Thankful din naman kami that ABS-CBN trusted us. Of course may mga technicalities na dapat i-adjust pero open naman kami doon. Basta nandun pa rin ‘yung essence ng story which I’m sure hindi pababayaan ng ABS-CBN.”

kea lang the thing is no offense meant wala yatang mkk pantay na mga local actors ng ABS - CBN sa mga characters ng KRISTINE eh. i mean sa looks pa lang nila bernard and the others na ruggedly type eh mahihirapan na po cla ma i compare sila piolo, sam, john loyd and the others? gosh eh puro boy next door type po ung mga un. eh ang mga kristine series male character was definitely the brusko and sensual type.
i suggest mas maganda pa na kumuwa cla ng mga model na mga may pag ka half pilipino half brazillian or japanese or american something.

nasa grade school plang ako.. fan na ako ng PHRs kaya di ko alam kung matutuwa ako o maiinis nung nalamn ko na gagawan ng ABS ng serye ang mga PHR pocketbooks, kasi.. oo nga, mas marami na nga ang makaka-recognize sa PHRs pero to be honest, walang ABS actors ang deserving sa mga roles ng mga lead men sa pocketbooks.. to think na sa precious, particularly yung mga series.. talagang gwapo as in gwapo ang mga leading men..
nabasa ko yung isang comment.. na nagsa-suggest na kumuha nlng ang ABS ng mga half-fils na mga model.. i think, tama siya. coz magmumukhang di PHR stories yun kung mga lokal actors lang.. masisira ang image nung story sa pocketbook.
magmumukhang 'cheap',(di naman sa paninira sa mga actors ng ABS, pero truth be told, it's the truth) ang mga guys kahit pa mayamn ang role pag lokals ang ginamit..

yeah, this is a challenging project for abs-cbn. i hope they can give justice to each character specially in kristine series. i agree the first moment i heard na gagawan ng tv series ang mga gawa ni MC na parang ang hirap isipin kung sino ang babagay na artista sa each role.
Martha Cecilia is my fave tagalog romance writer and i hope di ako madisappoint sa project na to. anyway it's better na abs-cbn ang gagawa nito kesa some other channels na walang masyadong "artista".
10 yrs na ko addict sa PHR Pocket book, since teen pa lng ako nagkokolect na ko ng PHR book. Excited talaga ako dahil atlast meyroong ganitong project ang abs, im so happy..
Pero sana magpaaudition kayo sa mga character, ung talagang fit sa description sa book para d sabotahe ung story. kakasaw na kasi yong mga local artist eh. lagi nlng cla, ibang face/talent namn pwede. At sana din pati mga Books ni Arielle tulad ng phoenix saga o kahit ung mga Trilogy nya ang gaganda.

OMG! i really can't believe when i saw on tv na gagawin serye ang books ng PHR. am just hoping that translating of books into a teleserye will really do justice. specially kristine series. bawat story nagiiwan ng marka sa puso mo. lahat worth it. am just hoping na huwag masira ang mga characters once na ipinalabas. kasi lahat kami supporters ng kristine series ang unang malulungkot. kristine series always give us hope. we cry, laugh and fall in love over and over with all the characters in kristine series.
hindi kaya masira lang ang story kapag ginawang teleserye? gosh! i hope hindi masira talaga ang kwento. lalo na ang mga characters. kung pagbabasehan talaga ang buong book mahihirapan. Navarro and Fortalejo Men are not just so ordinary. and am not over exaggerating. and that doesnt include yet the women in their lives. you just have to read the whole story. so you can relate. and you'll understand why?
