John Lloyd is okay with Sarah Geronimo being paired with Gerald Anderson

After the success of the John Lloyd Cruz-Sarah Geronimo pairing in the blockbuster movies A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life, rumors that the Pop Star Princess’s next leading man will be Gerald Anderson began cropping up. Negative reactions from both Lloydy-Sarah fans and Kim Chiu-Gerald Anderson followers soon followed. ABS-CBN.com spoke with John Lloyd on the set of I Love Betty La Fea last March 18 to get his take on the matter. The newly crowned 2008 Box Office King expressed his support for the possible Sarah-Gerald team up. “That would be interesting. Si Sarah naman tingin ko kahit sinong leading man ang i-partner sa kanya there will still be that magic. Sa klase ng actress, as a performer, at sa pagkatao ng isang Sarah Geronimo kahit sinong i-partner mo sa kanya parang laging may positive na result.”

In the March 15 episode of The Buzz, it was revealed that in a talk between Deo Endrinal, the production unit head of Tayong Dalawa which stars Kim and Gerald, and Vic del Rosario, head of Viva Films which manages Sarah’s career, it was discussed if was possible for Sarah to be teamed up with an actor closer to her age bracket and Gerald seemed to be the perfect candidate. However, Sarah said in an interview with The Buzz that she’s worried that the idea might affect Gerald’s tandem with Kim. “Bahala na kung ano ang will ni Lord at ng management kung ano ‘yung ma-settle nila. Hindi ko naman puwedeng sabihing oo naman na agree na agree [dahil] maraming kailangang intindihin pa muna.”

Meanwhile, Kim and Gerald are both okay with the idea of being paired with other people, but they have yet to hear anything from Star Cinema or ABS-CBN. Gerald assured all Kimerald fanatics that his love team with Kim will remain solid no matter what. “Hindi mawawala ang Kimerald dahil kahit maghiwalay muna kami o maghiwalay kami, sa future magbabalik pa rin kami sa isa’t-isa,” said Gerald. Incidentally, the Kim, Gerald, and Sarah have already worked together on some of their endorsements.

When asked if he thinks Gerald would make a good leading man for Sarah, John Lloyd told ABS-CBN.com that he is not in any position to assess a fellow actor. But for him, offering a new “flavor” to audiences is something that entertainers must constantly do for their own improvement. “As an actor I don’t think I’m in any position to say something. Kilala ko si Gerald at mabait siyang tao. Pero hanggang dun lang ang masasabi ko. ‘Yung pagiging artista niya wala akong pwedeng masabi dun. But para sa viewing public, sa mga fans nina Gerald, Sarah, at pati si Kim Chiu, sa tingin ko it would be very interesting na makita sina Sarah at Gerald on the big screen or kung saan man. Dapat naman kasi ganun para malaman mo kung kanino ka pwede. Kung baga sa singer, kagaya naming mga singers (jokes), kapag iba-iba ‘yung nakaka-duet mo dun mo masusukat ‘yung range mo."
