GEORGE AND CECIL ON ABS-CBN

Engaged couple Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo topbill “George and Cecil” on ABS-CBN.

George and Cecil is an upcoming sitcom on ABS-CBN to be aired every Sunday nights. Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo will be reunited with direk Joey Reyes in the said show.

The same production staff of the box-office movies Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo and Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo will also work together in George and Cecil.

“Komportable na kami sa isa’t isa. We are working with the same group of people,” explains Juday.

In the new comedy series, Juday plays George while Ryan is Cecil.

“George is Georgina. She is a toughie. Her work is to create trouble. I play Cecil who cooks when he’s angry. I sound effeminate here and I have traits associated with women,” explains Ryan.

The fans of Pinoy Fear Factor will also be delighted to see Jommy Teotico and Manuel Chua in the said sitcom.

John Lloyd is okay with Sarah Geronimo being paired with Gerald Anderson

After the success of the John Lloyd Cruz-Sarah Geronimo pairing in the blockbuster movies A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life, rumors that the Pop Star Princess’s next leading man will be Gerald Anderson began cropping up. Negative reactions from both Lloydy-Sarah fans and Kim Chiu-Gerald Anderson followers soon followed. ABS-CBN.com spoke with John Lloyd on the set of I Love Betty La Fea last March 18 to get his take on the matter. The newly crowned 2008 Box Office King expressed his support for the possible Sarah-Gerald team up. “That would be interesting. Si Sarah naman tingin ko kahit sinong leading man ang i-partner sa kanya there will still be that magic. Sa klase ng actress, as a performer, at sa pagkatao ng isang Sarah Geronimo kahit sinong i-partner mo sa kanya parang laging may positive na result.”

In the March 15 episode of The Buzz, it was revealed that in a talk between Deo Endrinal, the production unit head of Tayong Dalawa which stars Kim and Gerald, and Vic del Rosario, head of Viva Films which manages Sarah’s career, it was discussed if was possible for Sarah to be teamed up with an actor closer to her age bracket and Gerald seemed to be the perfect candidate. However, Sarah said in an interview with The Buzz that she’s worried that the idea might affect Gerald’s tandem with Kim. “Bahala na kung ano ang will ni Lord at ng management kung ano ‘yung ma-settle nila. Hindi ko naman puwedeng sabihing oo naman na agree na agree [dahil] maraming kailangang intindihin pa muna.”

Meanwhile, Kim and Gerald are both okay with the idea of being paired with other people, but they have yet to hear anything from Star Cinema or ABS-CBN. Gerald assured all Kimerald fanatics that his love team with Kim will remain solid no matter what. “Hindi mawawala ang Kimerald dahil kahit maghiwalay muna kami o maghiwalay kami, sa future magbabalik pa rin kami sa isa’t-isa,” said Gerald. Incidentally, the Kim, Gerald, and Sarah have already worked together on some of their endorsements.

When asked if he thinks Gerald would make a good leading man for Sarah, John Lloyd told ABS-CBN.com that he is not in any position to assess a fellow actor. But for him, offering a new “flavor” to audiences is something that entertainers must constantly do for their own improvement. “As an actor I don’t think I’m in any position to say something. Kilala ko si Gerald at mabait siyang tao. Pero hanggang dun lang ang masasabi ko. ‘Yung pagiging artista niya wala akong pwedeng masabi dun. But para sa viewing public, sa mga fans nina Gerald, Sarah, at pati si Kim Chiu, sa tingin ko it would be very interesting na makita sina Sarah at Gerald on the big screen or kung saan man. Dapat naman kasi ganun para malaman mo kung kanino ka pwede. Kung baga sa singer, kagaya naming mga singers (jokes), kapag iba-iba ‘yung nakaka-duet mo dun mo masusukat ‘yung range mo."

ABS-CBN debunks GMA’s and Solar’s Accusations

We understand GMA7's disappointment about the decision of Manny Pacquiao to have ABS-CBN as its media partner, but it should avoid making thinly veiled accusations based on a columnist's speculation. It alleges that ABS-CBN's supremacy in reach is to be used for Manny Pacquiao's political plans—which is not true.

ABS-CBN’s airing of Manny Pacquiao’s fights will not violate his contract with GMA, which prohibits Pacquiao from appearing on “any television program, show, promotion or event of any other broadcast media entity.” Manny’s fights are not programs, shows, promotion, or events of ABS-CBN. As the media partner of Manny Pacquiao, the Kapamilya network will only be airing Pacquiao’s boxing matches that will produced by Top Rank.

We also believe that there is no basis for Solar Entertainment Corporation to take legal action. ABS-CBN did not violate Solar’s rights. Pacquiao rescinded his contract with Solar before he approached ABS-CBN to be his media partner. We merely welcomed him as a Kapamilya.

Pacquiao returns to ABS-CBN

Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao renewed his ties with ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp., which will air his next matches including his highly-anticipated superfight with British superstar Ricky Hatton on May 2.

“Pagkatapos kong pagisipang mabuti nilapitan ko ang ABS-CBN [at] nagpagpasyahan ko pong makipag partner muli sa kanila,” Pacquiao, the reigning pound-for-pound king, said Wednesday.

“Sarili ko itong desisyon,” he added. “Sa ABS-CBN mapapanood nyo ang laban ko kay Ricky Hatton at iba ko pang laban.”

Pacquiao and ABS-CBN have collaborated in some of his fights, including the one against Mexican Oscar Larios in July 2006. The broadcasting network also aired his matches to Filipinos overseas through ABS-CBN's The Filipino Channel.

“Wala pang pagbabago,” the General Santos native assured his fans. “Ang laban ko ay laban nating lahat mga Pilipino, kahit saan mang sulok ng mundo.”

Pacquiao also appealed for support from his fans especially in his upcoming fight against Hatton, who is considered as his toughest match to date.

“Sana po, lagi nyo akong ipagdasal sa mga darating ko pang laban, lalung lalo na this coming May second,” said the Filipino champ, who also thanked his former network GMA-7.

ABS-CBN welcomed the return of Pacquiao even as it assured its support for his campaign against Hatton.

“We are very happy with the decision of Manny Pacquiao to be his partner in future fights, including the Pacquiao-Hatton fight on May 2. As his former media partner, we shall support Manny's campaign to bring honor to the Philippines and to his kababayans here and around the world,” said Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN Head of Corporate Communications, in a statement.

“To Manny, we say, 'Welcome home, Kapamilya',” he added.

ABS-CBN to launch summer station ID

Summer always sizzles with energy. This season, ABS-CBN’s Station ID shows how such vigor can be used to help make the country a better place. In the colorful music video, stars and news and current affairs personalities will be seen building homes for the poor, cleaning a river and the sea, sweeping streets, feeding children, among many other community activities.

They will also be dancing to a lively song performed by the ASAP ‘09 Kanto Boys Billy Crawford, John Lloyd Cruz, Luis Manzano and Vhong Navarro. The song, written by Robert Labayen and Peewee Gonzales with music by Star Records’ Christian Martinez, is about “spreading love and care everyday and everywhere.”

ABS-CBN chose the socially relevant theme recognizing the hard times brought about by the global recession. The creators of the summer station ID believe that the scarcity of material wealth can be overcome by an abundance of generosity and concern for one another. That is also why the company’s TV channel is using the battle cry “Kayang-Kaya Natin, Kapamilya” for the whole year.

Guided by the unchanging motto “In the Service of the Filipino Worldwide,” ABS-CBN has always been engaged in a lot of public service programs. Last year, ABS-CBN launched Bayanijuan as its banner project tying together all of the company’s work in protecting the rights and welfare of children, saving the environment, providing educational tools, rebuilding disaster-hit communities and empowering the poor through sustainable livelihood programs. Angel Locsin talks about preparations for ‘Only You’

Nakasalubong kamakailan ng ABS-CBN.com si Angel Locsin at nagkaroon kami ng pagkakataon na makapagkuwentuhan tungkol sa latest project nito sa ABS-CBN. Si Angel ang makakasama ni Diether Ocampo at Sam Milby sa upcoming teleseryeng Only You na Filipino adaption ng isang Koreanovela. Isang chef ang magiging role ni Angel dito kaya naman excited siya. Nagkakaroon na rin daw sila ng ilang workshop para matuto siyang magluto. Aminado si Angel na marunong siyang magluto, pero yung mga gourmet cuisine ay pinag-aaralan pa niya.

Noong March 11 ay dapat lilipad na sila patungong Korea para mag-shoot pero nagkakaroon pa daw sila ng problema sa pagkuha ng visa (Kilalang mahigpit ang Korea sa pag-approve ng visa.) Nilalakad pa daw ang mga visa ng staff and crew na sasama sa kanila. April ang target airing ng teleserye nila na mauuna pa daw sa soap ng dati niyang onscreen partner na si Piolo Pascual na makakasama naman si KC Concepcion sa kanyang bagong teleserye.
"Dapat nga sabay kami nila PJ na aalis. (Sina KC at Piolo ay lumipad na papuntang Paris para sa kanilang soap na Lovers in Paris) Pero sinabi ko nga sa kanya na hindi pa kami makakaalis. Nauna pa sila! E April daw ang airing namin." say ni Angel.

Noong araw na nakasalubong namin si Angel ay naka-schedule silang magworkshop kasama ang buong cast para maging comfortable at at-ease na raw sila sa isa't isa. Bagamat nararamadaman na niya na mangangarag sila sa pagte-taping, punong-puno siya ng excitement dahil sa pagpunta nila sa Korea at sa pagtatrabaho nila nina Sam at Diet. Natawa na lang si Angel sa isyung crush daw siya ni Sam. "Hay naku, maniwala ka dun! Kaibigan ko lang yun noh! Alam mo na..." nakangiting sagot ni Angel, na nakuha na namin kung ano ang gusto niyang sabihin.

10,000 line up for Pinoy Big Brother, PDA auditions

Braving the scorching heat of the sun, thousands of celebrity wannabes trooped to ABS-CBN in Quezon City Friday to try their luck as reality-based shows “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB) and “Pinoy Dream Academy” (PDA) opened their doors to new talents.

The first in the series of auditions was held Friday starting 9 a.m. at the PBB’s eviction hall, just across from the ABS-CBN building.

Security personnel said the people began to arrive as early as 2 a.m.. By 9 a.m., the crowd estimate was 7,000, and the number continued to go up. By 11 a.m., the number of aspirants already reached 10,000.

As of posting, the line had already snaked through Tomas Morato, Scouts Borromeo and Tuazon, slowing down the traffic.

Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN corporate communication, said that this is the "biggest audition so far in Metro Manila."

"As of 1:30 p.m. ay nag-cut off na ang line for the audition sa Pinoy Big Brother, pero yung mga nakapila, bago mag-ala una they will all be processed today," Osorio said.

"Pero gusto din nating ipaalam na yung mga hindi maa-accomodate today, there will be second audition naman na ia-annoiunce natin sa DZMM at Channel 2 para alam nila ang steps," he added.
