Carmina Villaroel to Star in MMK’s Mother’s Day Presentation

SiS co-host Carmina Villaroel is starring in the Mothers’ Day special of Maalaala Mo Kaya.

Co-starring with Carmina on the Mothers’ Day episode of MMK is Jodie Sta. Maria, another celebrity mom. The said episode is going to be shown on May 9, 2009.

When asked how she feels being chosen by the producers of Maalala Mo Kaya for the special episode, Carmina said:

“Indescribable ang aking feeling dahil sa lahat naman ng mga mommies or stars na ABS kami pa ni Jodie yung napunta dun sa Mothers’ Day episode ng MMK.”

Carmina is currently hosting GMA’s morning program SiS together with Janice de Belen and Gelli de Belen. She is also seen in the Philippine version of All About Eve.

Her guesting in MMK is a one episode project only and it does not mean that she will transfer to the kapamilya network.

Angel Locsin is proud to have Luis Manzano as her boyfriend

Marami ang na-touch sa mga binitiwang pahayag ng magkasintahan na sina Angel Locsin at Luis Manzano sa The Buzz last Sunday. Hanggang sa matapos ang intebryu sa kanila ng mga hosts ng Sunday showbiz-oriented show ng ABS-CBN na sina Boy Abunda, Ruffa Gutierrez and Kris Aquino may mga nakikiiyak pa rin sa happiness na nararamdaman nina Luis at Angel. “Naiiyak pa rin kayo,” sabi ni Angel sa mga fans na nagpa-picture sa kanila sa studio ng The Buzz. Maging si Luis ay namumula pa rin ang mga mata habang naglalakad palabas ng studio. “Oo, hobby niya ’yan (pag-iyak),” biro ni Angel kay Luis. “Minsan haharap ‘yan sa salamin tapos biglang tutulo na lang ‘yung luha niya.”

Sa unang pagkakataon ay narinig din mula mismo sa bibig ni Angel ang pag-amin na girlfriend siya ni Luis. “Ah, talaga? Hindi ko alam, eh. Kasi feeling ko matagal ko ng siyang ginagamit,” ngiti ni Angel. Sinabi ni Batangas Governor at ina ni Luis na si Vilma Santos sa mensaheng ibinigay niya kay Angel sa interview sa kanya ang mga kataganga ‘take good care of my son.’ Paano niya aalagaan si Luis? “Uhm, nag-iipon ako ng maraming pera para ‘pag meron na ako’ng pampa-buhay sa kanya ‘yun siguro. Magi-ipon ako ng maraming-maraming pera. Pababayaran ko siya. Kasi minsan naghihingi ng TF. Tini-TF ako. Hahaha!” pabirong sagot ni Angel.

Napag-alaman naman ng ABS-CBN.com na hindi nagustuhan ni Luis ang pagtawag sa kanya ni Angel ng stalker. “Wala siyang choice. Hahaha!” biro nanaman nito. “Hindi, lambing ko sa kanya ‘yon. Hindi nagagalit ‘yun. Hindi siya napipikon. Actually, lambing ko naman ‘yun sa kanya, e. Siguro kapag alam ko’ng napipikon tatahimik na ako. Hindi ko sa sinasabing stalker siya. Like kahapon ‘di ba nanalo nga ako sa Pinoy Bingo Night. Excited ako kasi lagi ako’ng malas, eh. Sa Deal or No Deal namin ako talaga ‘yung nagpatalo. Tapos nu’ng nanalo ako ‘pag tingin ko ng cell ko, ‘Congratulations!’ Parang ano ba? Lagi siyang ganu’n. Ibabalita ko pa lang sa kanya alam na niya agad. As in lagi talaga. Kaya sabi ko, ‘Ano ba? Stalker ba kita?’ Hahaha!”

Give and take naman daw sila ni Luis sa kanilang relasyon kaya’t smooth sailing ito. Sino ‘yung kapag nagalit ang isa tatahimik na lang ‘yung kabila? “Ako kasi tahimik ako, e. Siya naman si fix, taga-ayos. Ako ‘yung layo muna. Kasi mahirap na kapag galit ka kung ano ang nasasabi mo. Ako ’yung lumalayo muna.” Paano mapikon si Luis? “Alam mo sobrang try mo lang mapikon. Sobrang lawak kasi ang understanding nito, e. As in sobra talaga. Kaya na-impress din ako doon. Ibang level ng pang-uunawa. ‘Yun lang nga parang may sablay lang minsan.”

Kung tutuusin, pwede na raw lumagay sa tahimik sina Angel at Luis dahil pareho na silang secured in all aspects sa buhay nila. Ano na lang sa tingin niya ang pwedeng humarang o maging hadlang para mauwi na sa mas malalim ang kanilang relasyon? “Oo nga, kung tutuusin pareho naman kaming nasa rigtht age. May mga ipon naman kami. Safe naman na ang family ko. Siya wala naman siyang problema sa family niya. Siguro gusto rin naming mag-grow ‘yung isa’t isa and ayaw namin, lalo na ako, ayaw ko’ng i-hinder ang growth niya. Gusto ko’ng magawa niya ‘yung mga gusto niyang gawin kasi alam ko marami rin siyang pwedeng magawa. At darating at darating naman ‘yan kung ‘yun talaga ang mangyayari.”

Suot-suot ni Luis ang D&G na rubber shoes na birthday gift sa kanya ni Angel sa “The Buzz.” Habang si Luis naman niregaluhan niya si Angel ng rock band set. Incidentally, nakabili na si Angel ng sarili niyang rock band set sa Korea bago pa man binigay ni Luis ang birthday gift niya sa young actress. :Wala pa sa akin ‘yung binili ko sa Korea. Ah, kasi pina-ship ko. May 5 days pa siya bago dumating. So, sabi niya (Luis), itapon ko raw. Kasi ginagamit ko na ‘yung rock band na binigay niya.” How true ang chika na meron na raw silang joint account ni Luis? “Wala,” mabilis na tanggi ni Angel.

Sharon Cuneta at Ai-ai delas Alas fan ng isa’t isa

Aminado si Sharon Cuneta at Ai-ai Delas Alas na mas nagkaroon sila ng admiration sa isa’t isa matapos nilang magsama at ishoot ang Mother’s Day offering ng Star Cinema na BFF or Best Friends Forever. Sa interview ng dalawa sa Showbiz News Ngayon last April 22, sinabi nila na matagal na silang humahanga sa talento ng isa’t isa.

Pampasaya daw ni Sharon ang mga pelikula ni Ai-ai. “Si AiAi, karamihan sa mga movies sa i-Pod ko kanya,” Sharon admits. “Kasi she makes me so happy sa movies n’ya. ‘Yun ang appeal niya sa akin and I know to many people (too). Ang laking bagay nung napapasaya ako ng pinapanood ko.”

Para naman kay Ai-ai, working with the Megastar is undoubtedly a dream come true. She feels honored na finally ay nakatrabaho na niya si Sharon. “Kasi noong ‘80s pinapanood ko na siya. Isa siya sa mga nagagalingan ako sa mga actress natin,” kwento ni Ai-ai. "Ang Tanging Ama" is not approved title for Erap's movie

If former president Joseph Estrada is doing a movie with Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas under the direction of Wenn Deramas to be screened on the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival, it means one thing --- the opposition leader won't be eligible to run for presidency this 2010.

Erap met with Star Cinema boss Malou Santos to discuss the upcoming film last April 14. Erap outlined his conditions for the comedy film with Ms. Ai-Ai. He wants it to be titled "Ang Tanging Ama". The former president also wants his role to be close to the barangay, a sort of "masa", and his broken English be also portrayed.

But according to insiders, the title as suggested is not approved because this is already reserved for Willie Revillame.

Even if Erap will tease in a forthcoming athritis medicine TVC that he’s running, the new automated election rules will not allow him. Deadline for filing of candidacy will be in November, 2009. Ban of movies by running candidates take effect immediately.

Jay-R Siaboc returns to the small screen via Kambal sa Uma

PinoyDreamAcademySeason One runner-up, Jay-R Siaboc is ecstatic over his return to acting via the afternoon drama Kambal sa Uma. His last project was 2008’s Komiks Presents Mars Ravelos’ Kapitan Boom, where he played the alter-ego of the caped superhero. “Sobrang napakasaya ko talaga,” Jay-R said excitedly about his latest work. “Last akong nagkatrabaho June (last year) almost one year na. Ngayon lang ako nagkatrabaho ulit.” He even shared that he was initially skeptic when he heard he landed a role in the drama and he had to really confirm it. “Actually, nung sinabi nga sa akin three days before the story conference, talagang tinanong ko yung handler ko kung totoo ba ‘to,” he said with a smile.

Jay-R’s TV career last year was in high gear because aside from doing Kapitan Boom, he also became part of the action-teleserye Palos, where he played a secret agent. However projects dwindled by the end of 2008, and critics blamed it on the singer-actor’s sudden weight gain. Jay-R confessed that it really was one of the main reasons he lost some acting projects and he is now seriously doing something to shed the extra pounds. “Sobrang seryosong-seryoso na kasi kailangan na rin talaga, eh kasi nakikita ko na rin ‘yung kung gaano ako nahihirapan na wala akong trabaho,” he revealed. He admitted that he wasn’t conscious of his looks and he realized it a little too late. “Actually, hindi naman pinabayaan, eh. Biglaan na lang nangyayari tapos magugulat ka na lang,” he explained.

Initially recognized as a singer through PDA, Jay-R said that he actually does not mind setting aside his singing career for acting because what is more important to him now is that he has work. “Minsan naiisip ko, parang naiwan ko ‘yung pagkanta ko, pero nangingibabaw sa akin ‘yung trabaho, eh,” he confessed. “Ako naman hindi naman talaga ako namimili. Alam ng lahat ‘yan. Kahit maliit ‘yan basta may trabaho ako.” He was quick to say though that he is now working on his second album and that his fans should watch out for it.

Star Sighting in Boracay: Willie Revillame and his Wow Cruisers

The arrival of Wow Cruisers I and II created quite a stir.

First, they are by far the most popular yachts in the country.

Second, the owner, Willie Revillame (inset) is presently the "most powerful" man on the land as cited by the print affiliate of PEP, YES! magazine.

Although news from Boracay last week were mainly about controversies, some of our celebrities still managed to have a relaxing vacation in that famous Holy Week destination.

One of them was Willie Revillame, who took a three-day break from his regular noontime show Wowowee.

In an article titled (Part 1) Star Sighting in Boracay last April 10, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) said the TV show host was spotted at the Discovery Shores Boracay Resort and Spa.

He arrived with his two yachts, Wow Cruiser I and Wow Cruiser II, which the host revealed had been docked at the Subic Yacht Club on Holy Wednesday. It took him and his crew 14 hours to get to the tropical island the following day.

Willie was accompanied by director Bobot Mortiz, his on-camera assistant Bentong, and novelty songwriter Lito Camo, who helped the TV host in composing some of his hit songs, such as "Wowowee," "Pera o Bayong," and "Igiling-giling."

John Lloyd Cruz Says His Next Movie Role is the Hardest Yet

Lumipad na papuntang United States si John Lloyd Cruz noong Martes Santo, April 7, upang atupagin ang kanyang mga showbiz commitments. Una, lalabas muna si Lloydie sa concert tour ng Pop Icons kung saan isa siya sa mga special guest. Mula roon ay tutungo siya sa New York upang pagtuunan naman ng pansin ang ginagawa niyang pelikula with Batangas Governor Vilma Santos at Luis Manzano.

Kuwento pa ni John Lloyd sa panayam ng The Buzz na ipinalabas kahapon (April 12), mas matindi ang excitement na nararamdaman niya sa proyektong ito, lalo ngayong ginagawa na nila ito. “I’m very excited. I think doble na ang excitement ngayon. ‘Yung kaba is just the same,” natawang sabi ng aktor. Itinuturing din umanong “welcome change” ito ni John Lloyd na sa mga nakalipas na taon ay natuon sa paggawa ng mga romantic love stories na talagang pumatok naman sa takilya. Gagampanan kasi ni John Lloyd ang role ng isang lalaking nagkaroon ng relasyon sa kapwa niya lalaki (Luis). Sa ngayon, ito rin ang pinaka-challenging role na gagawin niya. “Coming from mga romantic comedy, mga love story parang it’s very refreshing na makita ako ng mga sumusuporta sa akin sa ganitong klaseng pelikula,” pahayag niya. Kinuwento rin niya na marami na silang “baon” ni Luis sa kanilang mga eksena matapos sumailalim sa matinding preparasyon. “Kami ni Luis, we’ve been preparing. Nag-workshop kami, we’ve been attending characterization exercises with Direk Olive (Lamasan) and Direk Laurice Guillen. Feeling ko marami kaming ‘baon’ papunta sa New York, papunta sa project na ‘to,” share pa ng binata.

Samantala, hindi pa sila umano nakakapag-workshop ni Ate Vi, subalit sinabing ibang atake ang kanilang gagawin para sa kanilang mga eksena. “Kami ni Ate Vi, wala pa kaming nagagawang preparation together. Ang gusto namin ni Inang (Direk Olive) since unang beses ko siyang makakatrabaho at ganu’n din kasi ‘yung character ko, hayun gusto namin doon na mangyari ‘yon.” Sa kabuuan, ipinagpapasalamat na lamang ni Lloydie na mabigyan ng ganitong klaseng break na aniya ay isang blessing sa anumang anggulo tingnan. “Siyempre bihira naman ang nabibigyan ng chance o ng opportunity na una makatrabaho si Gov. Vi at si Direk Olive, tapos magyayari pa sa magandang city, like New York. I couldn’t be happier. I couldn’t be more grateful na sa akin napunta ‘yung opportunity,” pagtatapos niya.

TNS National TV Ratings (April 3-5): ABS-CBN shows remain unbeaten

ABS-CBN remains very strong among national households, this is according to the latest overnight ratings conducted by Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS). Kapamilya programs continue to lead in almost all timeslots.

Wowowee and May Bukas Pa are still unbeaten in the weekday daytime and primetime races, respectively.

Wowowee also leads in the Saturday race while drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya is still the undisputed primetime leader.
