Claudine Barreto staying put in ABS-CBN

A very reliable network insider confirmed that the Optimum Teleserye Queen will be staying put in her mother network. This confirmation should put halt to all speculations both in print and new media saying that Claudine Barreto is already in negotiations with rival network GMA-7.
The network insider however confirmed that there was indeed an attempt on Claudine’s part to explore new options. However, ABS-CBN was quick to iron out whatever issues Claudine has. Claudine is one of the most successful homegrown talent ABS-CBN has. She is one of a kind in the Star Magic artist management center as she does not possess any batch number.
Claudine’s newest gig will be a soap opera with her ageing elder sister Gretchen Barreto-Cojuangco-Puno.

Coco Martin credits his training for his career success

After gaining international recognition for his indie film roles, Coco Martin’s career is steadily becoming something more than what he expected.
Coco has even been called the Gael Garcia Bernal of the Philippines. Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal made a name in the international scene because of his films like Y Tu Mama Tambien and Babel.
Coco credits his accomplishments to the trainings he has gone through.

Lorna Tolentino returns to heavy drama via ABS-CBN's Dahil May Isang Ikaw
"Don't get me wrong," aniya.
Nandoon yung importansiya.

Zaijian Jaranilla is slated do a movie and an inspirational album

Zaijian Jaranilla, who plays Santino in the leading primetime soap opera May Bukas Pa, recently signed a contract with Star Records to do an inspirational album that will include songs from the hit teleserye. Zaijian won't be singing in the album, but will instead do inspirational conversations with Bro. When asked about the content of the dialogues, the child star answered, “Magkukuwento kaming dalawa kung paano po maging mabait, paano mag-pray at paano po maging masunurin.”
The contract signing was attended by Star Records head Annabelle Regalado-Borja, Star Magic head Johnny Manahan, and Star Cinema managing director Malou N. Santos. The young actor also got big news from Santos who told Zaijian—within the earshot of everybody present—to mention that he is slated to make a movie with Piolo Pascual. Zaijian later said that he is excited about the project although he has not met Piolo yet.
May Bukas Pa has also extended its run until the end of the year or until early next year. Asked how he feels about this, Zaijian replied, “Siyempre po masaya kasi lahat ng magagaling na artista mage-guest sa May Bukas Pa.” He said that some of the stars that he wants to work with include Sarah Geronimo, Kim Chiu, and Gerald Anderson.
For the week of August 10, King of Comedy Dolphy will be the special guest of the inspirational teleserye and Zaijian said that he is happy to work with the veteran actor, whom he considers his idol. “Masaya po siyang kasama. Mabait po siya,” he described.
With his effective portrayal of Santino, people not only call Zaijian by his popular character’s name but some actually think that he has the gift to heal the sick, like what happened when a small boy approached him during one of their taping days. “Nung nagti-tape po kami hindi pa ako kasama [sa scene], may lumapit na isang boy, sabi niya, ‘Santino, pagamot,’” he recalled.
Zaijian could be considered today as the biggest child actor, but he said that he’s like any ordinary kid. “Hindi naman po puro taping. Tuwing Friday at Saturday nakakapagpahinga ako. Naglalaro din po ako ng PS2 at tagu-taguan. Atsaka ‘pag Monday, Wednesday.”
The young star also expressed his gratitude to the viewers who keep on supporting May Bukas Pa so that it continues to top the primetime block. “Thank you po sa pagsuporta sa show naming May Bukas Pa, sana po lagi n’yo pong panoorin ang May Bukas Pa dahil laging panalo kayo kay Bro.”

Dolphy joins Santino on May Bukas Pa

“Siyempre you have question in your mind, why. Of course lahat ng nangyayari sa buhay ng tao may reasons si Bro doon, so we’re just praying na sana maipakita sa amin kung ano ‘yung reason na ‘yon,” paliwanag ng aktor. “Dasal ko lang na give us more. Give us more because there’s more to do, more to accomplish, there’s more to love. We need more time together. ‘Di talaga ako nawalan ng pag-asa na he’s my only hope so that I will never lose. There’s a God (and) he’s there, he’s just watching us.”
Lorna Tolentino reveals Kris Aquino asked her on how to deal with Cory’s cancer

Actress Lorna Tolentino helped Kris Aquino during her mother Cory Aquino’s battle with cancer by giving her advice since Lorna herself previously had to take care of husband Rudy Fernandez who suffered from periampullary cancer. Kris revealed in her previous interviews that she would communicate with Lorna often to talk about this. “It’s about stages na nangyayari sa mom niya. Tinatanong niya (Kris) ako about near the end of Rudy kung ano ‘yung mga nangyayari, for example, nagkakaroon na ng obstruction sa mga ducts and then the edema and kung ano ‘yung pinakamagandang solusyon,” Lorna recalled on The Buzz yesterday.
The veteran actress confessed that the conversations were hard for her because she had to confront the painful memories she experienced during the last days of her husband. ‘Yun ‘yung iniwasan ko before na hindi ako magsalita about ‘yung nasa ospital si Rudy, including the seven days of Rudy sa bahay, which was mas mahirap because wala kami sa ospital, so mas (matindi) ‘yung taranta,” she explained. However, she said that she feels happy that she was able to help Kris, even in just a small way because Kris was there for her when Rudy died.
Lorna revealed that she told Kris to cling on to God because this is the best way to properly deal with the loss.
When she had to tend to her husband on his death-bed, Lorna said that she would wish that she was the one with the illness because she would feel helpless seeing a loved one suffer. She said that she would appear strong in front of Rudy and would often cry inside the comfort room.
The actress also revealed that the feeling of longing and sadness increased as the days passed and she would catch herself talking to her deceased husband. Returning to work is helping Lorna cope up with her loss. Lorna will be soon seen on the upcoming teleserye, Dahil May Isang Ikaw. But through frequent prayers, she said that she was able to strengthen her faith in God. She also gave encouragement to the rest of the Aquino family. “It’s hard yes but alam ko na naging napakatatag rin nila. Malalagpasan nila ito kasi nakikita ko naman napakataas ng kanilang panalingin, so just hang on and hold on to God, and everything will follow naman.”
Willie on leave 'indefinitely'

MANILA – Willie Revillame is on leave “indefinitely” in the wake of the controversy generated by his order to cut the simultaneous live broadcast of the procession of President Corazon Aquino's remains from his noontime show last August 3.
“Yes, naka-leave [siya]. From his (Revillame) own text [message] to me, indefinitely. Indefinitely, can be two days or three days,” Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN's corporate communications, told abs-cbnNEWS.com in a phone interview.
In an interview with the entertainment website, Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), Johnny Manahan, a Star Magic executive, said Revillame "has been asked to go on leave" beginning Monday, August 10.
Revillame, YES! magazine's most powerful entertainer, has been conspicuously absent from his show since Saturday. His female co-hosts, Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang, Valerie Concepcion and RR Enriquez, have taken over “Wowowee” in his absence.
"He feels isolated and beleaguered... I don't know when he will be back. Maybe, he will soldier on and do the two-week leave, or again, he may be back next week. Meanwhile, he has a real time to rest, be alone, and contemplate the future," Manahan told PEP.
Manahan defended Revillame from critics who have lashed at the host for being "arrogant." Contrary to criticisms, the Star Magic executive said the “Wowowee” host is "simple, compassionate and a pushover."
Manahan also pointed out that the "Wowowee" host would never disrespect the late former president and her family. Manahan admitted though that Revillame did not carefully choose his words when he ordered a stop to the live broadcast.
The live broadcast showed the transfer of Mrs. Aquino's body to Manila Cathedral from La Salle Green Hills on August 3, prompting an irked Revillame to have it cut.
Revillame explained that it was inappropriate to broadcast the funeral procession while they were having fun inside the studio.
Revillame's action last Monday drew instant criticism from various quarters, particularly in various online forums.
On August 4, Revillame publicly apologized, but said he was standing by his decision to have the simultaneous broadcast removed on air. He also disclosed that he had asked ABS-CBN entertainment production head Linggit Tan to remove it, and that he only blew his top when he saw the broadcast again on the screen.
He also said that he never meant to offend people. He said his only intention was to give respect and make the occasion a solemn one.
Osorio, meanwhile, said Revillame has already “apologized and the Aquino family has accepted it.” -Reyma Buan-Deveza, abs-cbnNEWS.com
