Anne Curtis: I feel disrespected

Actress-host Anne Curtis said Wednesday she felt disrespected and disheartened over the publication of the photo of her "wardrobe malfunction" in Boracay on tabloids and on the web.

"I really feel upset [that] it's coming out. Sana they had a little respect man lang," Curtis said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News.

The young actress said the incident was just an accident, and she was not expecting it to spread in the Internet.

Curtis, who was wearing a bikini, was dancing on stage when the right part of her top folded and accidentally showed her right breast.

The photo, which went viral on social networks such as Facebook, also landed in different gossip sites, blogs and tabloids.

The wardrobe malfunction happened while she was taping for the summer special episode of musical variety show “ASAP XV” in Boracay.

Sam to the rescue

Sam Milby, her former boyfriend, rushed to comfort the actress, who was shaking and crying after the dance number.

Curtis said before the dance number she even used double-sided tape to secure the top of her bikini.

"Hindi naman talaga maiiwasan, but to upload it or to even spread it, that's what makes me sad. Nakaka-dishearten na may mga taong ganoon. Bakit nila kailangang gawin sa akin ito?"

She said she was already ashamed of what happened. What made the situation even worse was when some people circulated the photo, she added.

Exposed breast

She said she was angry and she felt violated when the photo spread. Some tabloids did not event attempt to cover or blur out her exposed breast when they published the picture, she lamented.

She said this is not allowed even in Hollywood.

“Nakakalungkot ‘yong ginawa ninyo. Sana nakakatulog kayo ng maayos at sana masaya sila sa ginagawa nila,” she said.

The actress said that it would be up to Viva Communications Inc. and ABS-CBN to decide what legal action to take against those who published her photo.
She said she will support it if Viva decides to pursue a case against those who published and uploaded the picture. “Kasi pagkatao ko ‘yon. Ako ‘yon, katawan ko ‘yon… Sa tingin ko, wala silang puso sa ginawa nilang ganoon.”

Moving on

She called on the people who were able to take a shot of the incident using their camera phones to delete it. She also appealed to those who uploaded the photo to take it down from their site and blogs.

While conceding that “this is not something to be proud of,” Curtis said the only thing that she can do now is to “move on” and hope that ‘”it will pass already.”

“I’m not proud ‘yong nangyaring ‘yon. Sobra nga akong nalungkot at kinabahan sa nangyari kaya ako naiyak after ‘ASAP’…. nakakalungkot talaga na pinagpye-pyestahan pa ng mga tao. Hindi ko naman gusto ‘yon. Kahit sinong babae ayaw mangyari ‘yon sa kanila,” she said.

She noted that there is no use “crying over spilled milk,” and that she hopes other people would also forget the incident.

No publicity stunt

The actress made the statement with Milby, her leading man in the upcoming movie "Baby, I Love You."

Like Curtis, Milby said it was “extremely disrespectful” to publish the photo.

Milby denied the wardrobe malfunction was just part of a publicity stunt for the upcoming movie.

"Who would want to expose themselves for a publicity stunt? Anne has never exposed herself. I don't think that she is really elated," Milby said, dismissing the rumors raised by the tabloids.

He also made this appeal to the public: “Sana you guys will have respect. Kung nanay mo ‘yon, sister mo, family members, siyempre you wouldn’t want that to come out. Sana if you do have a picture, you won’t release it.”
