Gretchen Barretto shows the superiority of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MKK) as the longest running drama anthology on Philippine television with her intense portrayal of a young widow who falls in love with a priest this Saturday.
According to Gretchen, MMK gave her the opportunity to unleash her talent as an actress. She got her first acting award from PMPC’s Star Awards for Television last year. “Hanggang ngayon, I am very thankful to MMK as the show gave me an opportunity to show what I got,” Gretchen shared.
Written by Ruel Montañez and directed by Jerry Sineneng, Gretchen is a 28-year-old Maria who lost her husband and found another love from a 36 year-old newly transferred parochial priest. They were condemned by the people. It was a marriage against all odds but Maria fought for it and together with her four kids, they transferred to another place and started anew. She was head over heels with the priest and thought she was living a perfect life.
Until one night, she arrived from home with a strange image before her eyes: her 13 year-old daughter under the lusty hands of her husband priest. Apparently, that was not the first time. To save her family from the worse scenario, she immediately ended the affair. One night, the priest was found hanging inside his bathroom, dead. In the end, Maria faced parenthood alone and realized her unconditional love for her kids was the only and the final redemption.
The powerhouse cast includes Kier Legaspi as Henry, Jomari Yllana as Roy, Pen Medina as Pino, Dexter Doria as Hesusa, Julio Pisk as Jay, Tyrone Perez as Anghel, Ryan Ramos as Pedro and Mika dela Cruz as Ikay.
