The Kapamilya network is on a roll.
“Our goal is overall leadership. We’re bringing importance to daytime programming,” said ABS-CBN business unit head Deo Endrinal on the first night of a two-day trade launch here.
The network announced that over 10 programs will premiere in the first quarter of 2010. Four of these will be aired on either the “Prime Tanghali” (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) or the “Hapontastic” (3 to 5 p.m.) slots.
“That’s bringing prime time to daytime in terms of quality, storytelling and casting. It’s sort of an all-day prime time,” Endrinal told Inquirer Entertainment at the dinner party that the network hosted for advertisers at the Boracay Regency Hotel.
Joining the “Hapontastic” block is the fantasy-drama “Rosal Ka,” featuring Empress Shuck, Felix Roco and Matt Evans; directed by Jeffrey Jeturian.
The suspense-thriller “Isla,” which premieres March 21, airs in the same block. Part of the “Your Song” series, “Isla” stars Gerald Anderson and talents from the recently concluded reality program, “Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up.”
“Gimik 2010: The Reunion” features characters popularized by Judy Ann Santos, Mylene Dizon, Bojo Molina and Diether Ocampo in the early 1990s.
Melisa Cantiveros and Jason Francisco, or Melason, have a new show in “Prime Tanghali.” The duo, both winners in “Double Up,” will be seen in what the network calls a “reali-serye” titled “Melason in the City.”
“Dapat laging bago. Dapat laging may thrill (Always something new, always a thrill)... This is the new look of prime-time,” said network president Charo Santos-Concio at another dinner, in the exclusive Boracay Fairways and Bluewater on the second night of the launch.
Concio shared the stage with channel head Cory Vidanes as they launched seven shows for “Primetime Bida” (5 to 11 p.m.):
“Kristine Series by Martha Cecilia,” starring Cristine Reyes.
“Precious Hearts Romances: Impostor,” with Maja Salvador and Sam Milby.
“Lobo 2: Impostor,” featuring Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz.
“Magkaribal” which top-bills Gretchen Barretto, Bea Alonzo and Derek Ramsay.
Piolo Pascual in a new show with child actors Ziajian Jaranilla (“May Bukas Pa”) and Xyriel Anne Manabat (“Agua Bendita”).
New shows for “Agimat Presents: Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla” starring Jason Abalos in “Bianong Bulag,” EJ Falcon in “Pepeng Kuryente,” Enchong Dee in “Boy Putik” and Jolo Revilla in “Kapitan Inggo.”
A new season of “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition” to be titled “Clash of 2010 Uber.”
