Xyriel Manabat's new TV series to replace 'Imortal'
Xyriel Manabat, who rose to fame after playing the young Agua and Bendita, is one of the lead stars of ABS-CBN's upcoming television series "100 Days to Heaven."
In an interview with "The Buzz" on Sunday, the child star confirmed that her show will replace fantasy series "Imortal," which is top-billed by John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin.
"Ipapalit po doon sa 'Imortal," basta po malapit na malapit na," Manabat said. Cruz earlier said that the "Imortal" finale is set to be aired this month.
"100 Days to Heaven" tells the story of Anna Manalastas (portrayed by Coney Reyes), a bossy and cunning owner of a toy company who is about to go to hell. She strikes a deal with the Gate Keeper to give her a second chance at life and returns to the world as a helpless 7-year-old, which is played by Manabat.
Manabat said she attended acting workshops with Reyes and her other co-stars to prepare for her new role.
"'Yung kapag umarte po siya (Reyes), kahit po pwede na kaming umuwi ay pinapanood po namin siya," the child star said.
Also part of "100 Days to Heaven" are stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Dominic Ochoa, Valerie Concepcion, Smokey Manaloto and newest child actor Louise Abuel.

ABS-CBN denies perpetrating demolition job against Willie Revillame
ABS-CBN has denied any involvement in the provocation of various violent reactions and investigation on Willie Revillame and his program on TV5.
Willie’s camp, particularly his legal counsel Atty. Leonard De Vera, insinuated that the Kapamilya network started the big controversy regarding the episode in Willing Willie wherein a young boy danced ‘ala-macho dancer’ and given a ten thousand peso prize, now perceived by different sectors as child abuse.
The official statement released last April 13 by Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, reads, "We categorically deny that ABS-CBN has anything to do with the Jan-Jan episode. Records speak for itself.
We are not a complainant in this case, and have not made any public statement about it.
Indeed, it is incredible that ABS-CBN, as insinuated by Atty. Leonard De Vera, can possibly have control over the countless groups and individuals who have expressed their indignation over the issue, including Facebook, Twitter, major advertisers, government bodies, the church, academic communities, among others.
It is a general accusation bereft of any details and is obviously meant to divert the issue by dragging ABS-CBN's name."
Willie has decided to temporarily pull out his show from airing while the incident is being investigated by numerous agencies which include the Movie and Television Ratings and Classification Board (MTRCB), the Commission on Human Rights, and the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters sa Pilipinas (KBP). (reports from TV Patrol)

ABS-CBN hits record profits in 2010
LOPEZ-LED broadcasting giant ABS-CBN Corp. posted record profits and revenues last year, driven by the election season.
Consolidated net income almost doubled last year, surging by 87% to P3.18 billion from P1.7 billion in 2009, Regina M. Lizares, head for Corporate Planning of the company, said in a briefing on Tuesday.
"ABS-CBN generated consolidated revenues of P32.19 billion, 30% higher year on year because of an extraordinary boost to revenues due to the elections," she added.
Advertising revenues rose 50% to P21.7 billion last year.
"This increase is attributable to the surge in total advertising minutes sold, programmed rate increase that took effect in February 2010 and political advertisement," ABS-CBN said in a disclosure.
Better performance offset a 20% growth in total expenses to P23.4 billion last year. The broadcasting firm said expenses were driven by higher production costs and general and administrative expenses.
"For 2011, our target is to at least match the 2010 performance of almost P3.2 billion [in profits]," Rolando P. Valdueza, ABS-CBN chief financial officer, said in the same briefing.
Capital expenditures this year is about P5 billion, which includes a P1.4-billion spending for the broadband expansion of Sky Cable, Mr. Valdueza added.
Shares in the Lopez-led firm declined by 20 centavos to close at P41 apiece on Tuesday. --Neil Jerome C. Morales

ABS-CBN delivered consolidated revenues of P32.2 billion from advertising and consumer sales, posting an increase of P7.3 billion or 30% year-on-year.
ABS-CBN’s advertising revenues rose 50% or P7.3 in 2010 reaching P21.7 billion. This increase is attributable to the surge in total advertising minutes sold, programmed rate increase that took effect in February 2010 and political advertisement.
Consumer sales in 2010 amounted to P10.4 billion, posting a slight 1% increase or P60 million from a year ago, mainly from Sky Cable. Sky Cable contribution share to total consumer sales increased to 49% with it its subscription and service revenue contributing P3.9 billion, or P348 million more than 2009. ABS-CBN’s Global contribution share amounted to 38%, while ABS-CBN Film Production, Inc., better known as Star Cinema, contribution share amounted to 13%.
Total expenses grew by P3.8 billion or 20% year-on-year to P23.4 billion, driven mostly by higher production costs and general and administrative expenses (GAEX). Total production costs in 2010 rose by P1.6 billion or 25% to P7.9 billion, as ABS-CBN strategically increased programming hours of in-house produced primetime dramas, afternoon programs, and variety shows to meet viewer needs and advertiser demand. GAEX rose 32% or P2.0 billion year-on-year to P8.2 billion, inclusive of P1.3 billion one-time expenses for performance-based pay and non-recurring corporate initiatives.
Net income attributable to shareholders for 2010 is P3.2 billion, a P1.5 billion or 87% improvement over last year’s net income.

ABS-CBN maintained its national audience share and ratings leadership with total-day audience share averaging 43% in 2010, going by Kantar Media National TV Ratings’ figures.
ABS-CBN’s programs continued to dominate the Top 20 programs list. In 2010, ABS-CBN programs held over 15 of the top 20 slots for weekdays and top weekends. Weekday and week-end entertainment programs launched or aired in 2010— Agua Bendita, Dahil May Isang Ikaw, Habang May Buhay, Imortal, Kokey@Ako, Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo, Mara Clara (remake), Noah, Pilipinas Got Talent, Tanging Yaman, Wansapanataym, Rosalka and the Agimat Series with Ang Mahiwagang Daigdig ni Elias Paniki, Pepeng Agimat, Tiagong Akyat and Tonyong Bayawak—kept the audience enthralled and enjoyed national program ratings prominence in their respective timeslots.
The high-rating entertainment shows were ably complemented by erstwhile but constantly relevant and evolving news and current affairs shows— Bandila, Matanglawin, Rated K, TV Patrol, Umagang Kay Ganda, to name a few. These programs have become a staple not only in the delivery of news but also a source of knowledge.
Sky Cable pursued its thrust to enhance viewing experience for its customers with continued move towards digitization. Together with the introduction of a tiered pricing mechanism, penetration rates in cable TV viewing steadily improved.
In 2010, Sky Cable also launched the Sky Broadband Ultra High Speed Internet connection subscription that offers speeds of up to 112 mbps. This offering greatly complemented the revolutionary online access to entertainment product- iWantv, which also originated in 2010.
ABS-CBN Global’s overall viewer count increased by 2% year-on-year, with strong double-digit subscriber growth in cable TV subscriptions. With new cable distribution partnerships driving subscriber acquisition, overall subscriber count grew at a double-digit rate in Canada. In Australia, satellite TV subscriber generated a 10% growth as affordable and flexible plans continued to attract new direct-to-home subscribers.
ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. continued to produce and or co-produce compelling genres that are well received by the public. In 2010, a total of twelve movies were released with four of them – I Love You, Goodbye, Miss You Like Crazy, Here Comes the Bride, and My Amnesia Girl–exceeding P100 million in box office receipts and earning local blockbuster status.

Bida Best sa Tag-araw
by Angeline Quinto, Vincent Bueno, and J-dot
Hanggang kailan itatago ang galing?
Huwag mong pipigilan puso'y magniningning
Sinasabi ng puso ang gusto'y kakayanin
Pangarap di malayo, kaya mong abutin.
Humawi na ang ulap
Sumikat na ang araw
Naghihintay ang lahat
Na sa 'yo na ang ilaw
Chorus: Damdamin mo'y isigaw
Ang bibida ay ikaw

Tina Monzon-Palma Checks on the Kids of Bantay Bata 163 in ‘Krusada’
The home is believed to be every child’s sanctuary, the place where a kid is farthest from harm. But this is not the case for the victims of child abuse. For them, the home is a place of fear, sin, violence and abandonment.
Award-winning broadcast journalist Tina Monzon-Palma has long begun her crusade for the innocent children who are suffering from cruelty and neglect. She started as a volunteer for Bantay Bata 163, a hotline and rescue center founded by the ABS-CBN Foundation in 1997 to protect and save kids from abuse.
This Thursday (Abril 7) in “Krusada,” Tina will share the different stories of children rescued by Bantay Bata through the years, some of them she met and helped herself. One of them was beaten up by her parents, one was molested by a friend, another was put in a dog house, while one was left alone to fend for herself.
How are they since they were taken in by Bantay Bata? How does this program help them put their lives back on the right track?
Child abuse is a deed that inflicts pain on a kid worse and deeper than bruises and wounds can. However, they can still be saved as long as they get help immediately.
Meet the unsung heroes of Bantay Bata, the social workers and volunteers that rescued the children and understand the psychology behind child abuse. Listen and take part in the fight against child abuse with Tina Monzon-Palma this Thursday (April 7) in “Krusada” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN. Because it takes more than words to make a stand.

Good Vibes Dances its Way to the Filipino Teens’ Hearts
ABS-CBN’s newest youth-oriented program “Good Vibes” is on the right track after ruling its timeslot on its debut episode last Sunday (April 3).
Based on ratings data from Kantar Media, “Good Vibes” beat competing programs with a rating of 9.7 percent.
It seems that the show was able to captivate the hearts of the teen crowd with a perfect and hip blend of drama, romance, and amazing dance routines performed by today’s most promising young stars Sam Concepcion, Enrique Gil, Arron Villaflor, Ivan Dorschner, Yen Santos, Devon Seron, Linn Oeymo, Coleen Garcia, Chikara Nawa, Kazel Konouchi, Heidi Riego, and James Reid.
The one-week old program is also making noise online. In the popular website pinoyexchange.com, forums are consistently updated with photos and comments on the program.
According to virtualreality, it is evident that the program wasn’t rushed as the cast are performing very well so far. He/she said, “although some of the cast are newbies and most of them aren’t household names yet, still, the kids can deliver! Honestly, I feel good vibes from this show! Has great potential. God bless GV Crew!”
Facebook user Maricar Corbito also commended the show in the official “Good Vibes” account. “Finally, may teen-oriented show na ‘di lang puro kilig, talagang may talent at may lesson na mapupulot,” she said. Others also likened the show to classic ABS-CBN teen drama series like “Gimik” and “Tabing-Ilog.”
Lead stars Sam and Enrique are very thankful for the people’s warm reception of their show. Enrique, who plays Troy, said he’s happy to know all their efforts didn’t go to waste. “It feels great because we put a lot of hardwork into it. Everyone did their best for this show — especially the team behind Good Vibes, who made everything possible.”
Sam, who play’s Marc, added that there is still more to look forward to in the program, especially now that half-brothers Troy and Marc have finally met each other. “We assure you the show gets better and better and I hope they’ll be watching to find out how the story unfolds,” he said.
This Sunday (April 10), Troy will meet a mysterious girl in school, He will also have to deal with being denied by Marc, who introduced him to class only as a cousin. Marc, meanwhile, faces another setback as their dance troupe is in danger of being dissolved after one of their members got pregnant.
How will they dance their way through these new tests in their lives? Find out this Sunday (April 10) in “Good Vibes,” after “ASAP Rocks” on ABS-CBN.

'Imortal' finale to air this month, says John Lloyd
Hunk actor John Lloyd Cruz shared that his hit television series, "Imortal," with Angel Locsin will come to an end this month.
In an interview with "The Buzz," Cruz said the series will end after 6 months of “hard work and love.”
"It's been quite a journey for me kasi sabi ko nga bago kami nagsimula, ngayon lang ako papasok sa ganitong genre, ‘yong [fantaserye]," Cruz said.
When asked what made him accept the project, Cruz, who is known for being good dramatic actor, said: "Hindi naman puwedeng ganoon at ganoon na lang ang ginagawa natin. Gusto ko ding [maiba] kasi it's a way of giving back to my audience."
When asked if he would consider his character in "Imortal" as his best role yet, Cruz replied: "I'd say this one is very memorable. Ngayon lang ako nag-leather jacket sa Maynila para sa show na ito. Imagine mo mag-leather jacket sa Quiapo."

As faith dictates, the two were born with special birth marks symbolizing their power. Lia and Mateo are destined to become mortal enemies, but love will change everything.
“Imortal” also stars Maricar Reyes, Rico Blanco, Jomari Yllana, Jake Roxas, Vivian Velez, Johnny Revilla, and Jaime Fabregas.
The pilot episode of the show was directed by Chito S. RoƱo. Other directors of the TV series are Jerry Lopez-Sineneng, Trina N. Dayrit and Richard V. Somes.
