Karen Davila Reviews First Year of PNoy in ‘Krusada’
In his first year, did the President really treat the people like his boss?
During his inauguration, Pres. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III spoke about taking the straight path in leadership, called the people his “bosses,” and said that without corruption in the government, no Filipino will wallow in poverty.
A year after he coined such catchphrases as “tuwid na daan,” “kayo ang boss ko,” and “kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap,” was he able to stay true to his promises to the people?
This Thursday (June 30) in “Krusada,” ABS-CBN news anchor Karen Davila will look through Aquino’s performance in his first 365 days in office.
His administration did come up with projects such as the “conditional cash transfer” for poor people and “tawid pasada” for drivers affected by the oil price hike. However, some people wonder if these programs really address the problem or just provide short-term solutions.
Some of the resource persons who will share their opinions are Gang Badoy, the founder of the “Dear Noynoy” Facebook Fanpage, Mae Paner aka Juana Change, an artist- director and political activist who supported PNoy during his candidacy, Ramon Casiple from the Institute for Political and Electoral Reform (IPER), and Rep. Mitos Magsaysay, who once called PNoy the “laziest, most stubborn, most inefficient president we’ve ever had.”
In his first year, did the President really treat the people like his boss? Was he able to guide the nation towards taking the straight path? Is the government free from corruption and the Filipinos, free from poverty?
Hear the thoughts of different Pinoys on PNoy’s crusade this Thursday (June 30) in “Krusada,” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN. You may also join the discussion on the KrusadaTV Facebook fanpage (facebook.com/krusada). Because it takes more than words to make a stand.

Andi Eigenmann is pregnant, confirms mom
Andi Eigenmann, who rose to fame by playing the lead star in the now defunct hit ABS-CBN teleserye “Agua Bendita,” is 4 months pregnant, the young actress’ mother confirmed on Wednesday.
An emotional veteran actress Jaclyn Jose faced ABS-CBN News in an exclusive interview to confirm reports that her 21-year-old daughter is expecting her first child.
ABS-CBN News caught up with Jose while taping for a “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode in Antipolo.
“I just want to tell everyone that, yes, it's true, my daughter is pregnant,” Jose said. “Hindi madali pero kailangan kong tanggapin kasi anak ko siya at mahal ko siya. Wala namang ibang tutulong sa kanya kundi ako at ang kanyang pamilya.”
She said Eigenmann is exactly 18 weeks and 2 days pregnant, and she is doing okay. “I’m taking care of her, akong bahala sa kanya.”
Jose said the father of Eigenmann’s child is a former boyfriend who allegedly abandoned her daughter when he found out about the baby. He said the guy is the young actress’ first sweetheart.
“Wala na sila noon. Iniwanan sila noong nabuntis siya. I’m okay with that. I don’t want to talk about him anymore. I don’t have business with him. I feel angry every time I think of him but that's over na,” she said.
Eigenmann used to go out with Albie Casiño of “Mara Clara.” The 2 did not part ways amicably, with Casiño accusing her of cheating on him.
She is now being romantically linked to Jake Ejercito, son of former President Joseph Estrada and Laarni Enriquez.
“Siyempre, bilang ina, nararamdaman mo na until she finally told me everything,” she said.
Jose admitted that she got hurt when she learned about Eigenmann’s condition. She said she went straight to church after the young star’s confession.
“Una siyempre, ang una mong pupuntahan simbahan. Mananalangin ka. Ibigay mo na lang sa Kanya lahat. Sabihin mo, ‘Ama ikaw na ang bahala. Hindi ko kaya ito. Kung ano man ang desisyon mo, tatanggapin ko ito.’ Ang binigay niyang desisyon siyempre kailangan kong tanggapin,” she said.
She added: ‘Yong galit, ayoko nang i-entertain kasi nandiyan na. Acceptance na lang ‘yong sa akin… Andi is my priority, si Andi lang at ang baby. Silang dalawa lang ang concern ko. Wala na akong concern sa ibang may kinalaman.”
She said she is proud of her daughter for deciding to keep the baby. She said their family fully supports Eigenmann’s decision.
“Noong una, nabigla din siya. After a while, she decided to keep the baby at naging proud naman ako sa anak ko because, at her age, for her to decide on things like that… okay na sa akin ‘yon. I’m proud of her, of what she did, of her decision of keeping the baby,” she said.
“Tanggap lahat ng pamilya ko. Wala namang problema. Mahal namin ‘yan, mahal ng lahat ng pamilya ko si Andi. Alam niya yan, nandito kami behind her all the way,” she added.
When asked to give a message to the guy and his family, the veteran actress said: “Wala na akong hinihiling sa kanila, ni ayoko silang makita. Ayos na kami. Leave us alone. We’re okay.”
She also appealed to the public not to judge the young actress, one of the lead stars of “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin.”
“Alam ko may pagkakamaling nagawa ‘yong anak ko. Hindi ko sinasabing tama, ang puwede ko na lang sabihin huwag na lang husgahan. Bigyan na lang siya ng pagkakataon tutal buhay naman yan… humihingi ako ng pang-unawa sa audience, sa fans ni Andi,” she said.
“Pagkakamali in the sense hindi pa sapat ang panahon. Definitely, the baby is a blessing," she added.
She also said she hopes Eigenmann will be given another chance in terms of her career in show business.
Eigenmann, assured Jose, will finish taping “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin.” -Report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News

Star Cinema Releases Amigo
Yup, he began acting at the age of seven sa mga community theater productions sa Bacolod, Negros Oriental.
You Must See Before You Die.
The film is being released through Star Cinema and distributed by Origin8 Media.

Vilma to do movie, show soon
Veteran actress and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto revealed she will again be visible in the big screen and on Philippine TV soon.
In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Santos said her upcoming show and movie are currently under negotiations.
“Mayroon po akong movie na gagawin anytime this year. TV show mayroon ding inaayos ngayon. Sa anong channel, baka Channel 2, hindi ko alam,” she said.
She also replied to the question on whether she plans to run again in the next elections.
“Ang pagtakbo ko po or hindi pagtakbo ay hindi ko pinaplano. Sabi ko nga po hanggang ngayon hindi ko po alam kung bakit ako gobernador. I may run again, I may not run anymore. But again, ang pinakaimportante ay ang tiwala ng tao,” Santos explained.
Meanwhile, she also took time to answer the question as to who among her son Luis Manzano's girlfriends is her favorite.
“Lahat naman sila. Siyempre para naman kasing napakarami. Pero lahat sila kasi lahat naman po sila napaligaya ang anak ko,” she said

Coco builds house for family
Coco Martin is having a “dream house” built for him and his family.
“Ayun, pinag-iipunan. Sana by next year matapos na siya,” the actor told “Showbiz News Ngayon” in a taped interview aired on June 27.
This, according to Martin, is the reason he works extra hard these days.
“Dahan-dahan ipon kaya sobrang trabaho yung ginagawa [ko]. Siyempre mas lalo ko pang pinalalalim sana yung talent ko.
“Lahat naman ng pangarap ko sa ngayon is para sa pamilya ko. Unti-unti ako kahit papa’no nakakapag-ipon. Dun naman nagi-start eh, sabi ko, sa mga maliliit na bagay. Habang okay yung trabaho ko,” the "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin" star said.
Asked if talks alleging that he’s building a seven-bedroom house were true, Martin just laughed, “Eh basta yun eh.”
“Pinapaayos ko lang. Tinatayo pa eh, matagal pa. Mahaba pang proseso yun,” he added.
However, this was still immediately followed with the question, “Bakit 7 bedrooms?” to which the actor quickly replied, “Kasi malaki ang pamilya ko.”
Martin, who was recently hailed as the 27th Philippine Movie Press Club's (PMPC) Star Awards for Movies’ Movie Actor of the Year for the film “Noy,” took the opportunity to thank those who helped him reach his dreams.
“Simula nung nag-indie ako hanggang nagt-TV ako ngayon sa ABS-CBN, sobra kong nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng tumulong sa ‘kin, sa lahat ng dahilan kung ba’t ako nandito ngayon, kasi sila yung dahilan kung bakit natutupad yung mga pangarap ko sa buhay.”

Star Magic artists now Pag-Ibig Fund members
Star Magic artists marked the group's 19th anniversary by joining the government's Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF), more popularly known as the Pag-Ibig Fund.
On Sunday, more than 90 Star Magic artists formally and officially became members of the Pag-Ibig Fund.
HDMF chief executive officer Atty. Darlene Berberabe said the stars are mandated by law to be members of HDMF.
"(You know) because of the law passed in 2009 na nagsabi na mandatory ang coverage ng Pag-Ibig Fund membership including the self-employed, ang [ginawa nitong] ating mga artista [ay] isang napakagandang move para maka-boost (ng membership). Kasi maraming nag-i-idolo sa ating mga artista kaya very important, very momentous ito para sa Pag-Ibig Fund," Berberabe said.
Stars like actor Jake Cuenca said the tie-up between Star Magic and HDMF is a really good move for artists.
"It's mandatory na for all of us artists to pay Pag-Ibig which is very, very good. Kami naman we are just really proud to support Pag-Ibig Fund. It's a good cause," Cuenca said.

Amy Austria-Ventura Returns in ‘Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin’
After more than a month of absence in the high-rating series “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,” veteran actress Amy Austria-Ventura has resumed her work.
According to reports, Amy spent 40 days in the hospital. The actress underwent a total hysterectomy to avoid complications that the benign mass in one of her ovaries might cause.

Meanwhile, Coco’s distinct portrayal of his two different characters are worthy of praises. His way of giving life to Javier and Alexander proves his versatility as an actor and how he has matured through the years as an artist.
Coco is very grateful for the positive feedback that he has been reading and hearing. “Maraming salamat po talaga sa pagtitiwala. Nagagawa ko po itong lahat dahil po sa inyo. Salamat po talaga,” Coco said.
“Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” still reigns on its timeslot. According to Kantar Media’s national ratings result last Thursday (June 16), “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” earned a national rating of 26.3% beating GMA 7’s “Munting Heredera’s” 16.6%.

Star Magic cheers 300 stars
Just a thought: Two things define your success in life; the way you manage when you have nothing, the way you behave when you have everything.
Star Magic is 19: Where else but on ABS-CBN, on a fine Sunday morning, can you find the likes of Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Angelica Panganiban, Diether Ocampo, KC Concepcion, Sam Milby, Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson together under one production number?
The country’s most glamorous stars, also talented actors, gather once more on “ASAP Rocks” June 26 to celebrate the 19th anniversary of Star Magic, the talent management arm of ABS-CBN to which they owe their success.
Under the stewardship of veteran TV director Johnny Manahan, Star Magic has steered the careers of these stars, members of the ruling class in today’s entertainment industry.
In fact, 300 of them artists belonging to Star Magic are featured in a music video set to premiere also on “ASAP Rocks.”

Int'l Gold Quill for ABS-CBN: For being the first to break the biggest election-related story on the Maguindanao massacre, encouraging young voters to register and vote, and creating an army of change to make the 2010 elections work, ABS-CBN Corporation bagged an international Gold Quill Award in recognition of its election advocacy campaign “Boto Mo, i-Patrol Mo.”
It was through ABS-CBN’s “Boto Mo, i-Patrol Mo” that the world learned about the single deadliest act against journalists when a Boto Patroller first sent a picture from the crime scene to ABS-CBN.
ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, was the first to break the news.
“Boto Mo, i-Patrol Mo: Ako ang Simula” was launched a year before the 2010 national elections by ABS-CBN, which pioneered citizen journalism in the country. It not only empowered Filipinos to use technology to patrol their votes but also challenged them to start the change they want for the country.
ABS-CBN is the only Philippine broadcast network to win an international Gold Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for its election advocacy and coverage via the BMPM campaign, which also won awards from the 2010 Philippine Quill Awards and the Anvil Awards.

ABS-CBN wins Quill award for Boto Mo, i-Patrol Mo
For being the first to break the biggest election-related story on the Maguindanao massacre, helping drive young voters to register and vote, and creating an army of change to make the 2010 elections work, ABS-CBN Corporation bagged an international Gold Quill Award in recognition of its election advocacy campaign Boto Mo, i-Patrol Mo (BMPM).
It was through ABS-CBN’s Boto Mo, i-Patrol Mo that the world learned about the single deadliest act against journalists when a Boto Patroller first sent a picture from the crime scene to ABS-CBN. And ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, was the first to break the news.
His bravery in exposing the gruesome crime that left 58 dead showed what BMPM is all about — the ordinary Filipino, making a difference by letting the public know about the realities in his community and the government to do something about it.
Boto Mo, i-Patrol Mo: Ako ang Simula was launched a year before the 2010 national elections by ABS-CBN, which pioneered citizen journalism in the country. It not only empowered Filipinos to use technology to patrol their votes but also challenged them to become the start of the change they want for the country.
ABS-CBN was the only Philippine broadcast network to win an international Gold Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for its election advocacy and coverage via the BMPM campaign, which also won awards from the 2010 Philippine Quill Awards and the Anvil Awards.
The multi-platform campaign received 500 reports a day by e-mail, 103 calls a day, and 3,058 texts a day during election season. And on election day, citizens’ reports grew to four per minute as compared to one per minute in 2007 when it was first launched.
During the campaign last year, BMPM has 87,419 registered Boto Patrollers in its central database, 125,487 fans on Facebook, 23,111 followers on Twitter, 6,960 members on its microsite and 3,701 members on Multiply.
It organized vice-presidential and senatorial debates and pioneered the use of a Wireless Audience Response System (WARS), which allowed randomly selected citizens to indicate they believe the candidate’s answers or not during the televised debates, which became among the highest trending topics on Twitter.
This resulted to making ABS-CBN being cited by most Filipinos as the most credible TV station based on a Pulse Asia national opinion polls in 2010 with 72 percent of Filipinos saying the TV network gave a credible coverage of the elections.

Step by step nabi-build na namin ‘yung magandang friendship. Mas nakilala mo sila deeper,” pahayag ni Angelica.
“Exhausting ‘yung workshop, ako medyo nahirapan. Good thing, nagkakakilanlan na kami. I think we are ready to work,” sagot naman ni Gretchen.
“Masarap magtrabaho kapag nagtutulungan kayo at ‘di kayo maghihilahan pababa. Mas maaliw sila kung nakikita na sila sa lines at sa damit lang kami nagpapatalbugan. Kapag ‘di niya (Gretchen) lang ako pinahiram ng alahas, baka dun uminit ang ulo ko,” pabirong sagot naman ni Angelica.
“Kung mag-aaway, ako ang mediator dito,” nakangiting pagtatapos naman ni KC.
Makakasama ng tatlo sa bagong serye sina Zanjoe Marudo, Sam Milby, at Luis Manzano.

Angelica, KC and Gretchen star in 'Muling Buksan ang Puso'
KC Concepcion and Gretchen Barretto attended an acting workshop together for ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Muling Buksan ang Puso."
In an interview with "Showbiz News Ngayon", the actresses shared their workshop experience under award-winning director Laurice Guillen.
"Exciting kasi marami kaming nalalaman sa isa't isa. Step-by-step nakikilala mo sila ng deeper," Panganiban said.
"Exhausting 'yong workshop. Medyo nahirapan. The good thing is nagkakakilanlan na kami. I think we are ready to work," Barretto said.
Concepcion shared: "This is it! Nararamdaman na namin na talagang may project kami together kasi matagal na kaming naghihintay."
The series will be directed by Ruel Naval, one of the directors of the defunct top-rating series "Magkaribal."
Asked if people will see them compete in the series on the fashion and acting front, Barretto replied:
"Kung patalbugan, malalaman niyo na lang yon. Si Angelica pagdating niya sa set hindi na siya si Angelica. Iba na ang character na ipo-portray niya. Iba na din ako. Iba na din si KC doon. Kung mag-away kami sa teleserye, 'yon kami pagdating sa set."
For Panganiban, she stressed that they will just do their job as actresses. She also added that it would be easy to do the series if they will work hand-in-hand.
"Masarap magtrabaho kung hindi kayo naghihilaan pababa, at doon magwo-work 'yon. Doon makikita ng tao kung paano magiging maganda ang teleserye na pinapanood nila," Panganiban said.
Also part of "Muling Buksan ang Puso" are actors Luis Manzano, Sam Milby and Zanjoe Marudo.

ABS-CBN International Scores Big in Telly, PromaxBDA 2011
True to its continuous commitment to excellence, ABS-CBN International's The Filipino Channel (TFC) received national recognition for five industry awards it won recently in the U.S.
Its entry of "Streets of My Lolo" won silver for Best in Art Direction & Design: Public Service Announcement at the 2011 PromaxBDA Local Awards held in the PromaxBDA Station Summit in Las Vegas on June 9. (The gold award went to NBC Miami Media/Mother New York for "Earth Week"). Announced this month from New York are ABS-CBN International's victories at the 32nd Annual Telly Awards where it won three bronzes for the same video, "Streets of My Lolo", in the categories of Social Issues, Use of Graphics and Editing. Another Telly bronze was captured for "Bayaning Pilipino: Little Manila Foundation" in the Documentary category.
"Streets of My Lolo" is a short piece that was created for and shown at the 2010 Filipino American History Month Celebration at the San Francisco City Hall, co-presented by the Office of then Mayor Gavin Newsom, the Philippine Consulate General of San Francisco, Filipino American Arts Exposition, SOMA Pilipinas and ABS-CBN International. It highlighted the efforts of SOMA Pilipinas to preserve Filipino history and heritage in the streets of South of Market, San Francisco which served as an early settlement for many Filipino immigrants.
"Bayaning Pilipino: Little Manila Foundation" was aired on TFC via Bayaning Pilipino sa America 2010, chaired by now ABS-CBN Corporation's Senior Vice President for News & Current Affairs Ging Reyes and produced by ABS-CBN International's News Production Head Vivian Zaldivea Araullo. The video narrated the struggles and triumphs of Filipino American pioneers who built their community south of Main Street in Stockton, California.
Both award-winning video segments were written and produced by Pia Lopezbaños-Carrion who heads the Ad & Promo unit of ABS-CBN International under North America Media Events and Production Group & Global Customer Engagement Head John-D Lazatin. Her team included videographer Jeremiah Ysip, editors Danny Manasala and Mitos Briones, with Mike Carrion providing art direction.
"We were thrilled by these twin distinctions," said Lopezbaños-Carrion. "We set out producing these videos inspired and enamored by the great miracles being done by unsung heroes for our Filipino community in the U.S. To be recognized for the passion and work behind these videos is a true positive reinforcement and validation that we're doing something good and right."
For the Telly Awards, ABS-CBN International was selected from nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries. The Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
PromaxBDA is the leading global association for marketing, promotion and design professionals working in the entertainment industry. The PromaxBDA Local Awards were developed to celebrate excellence, creativity and innovation in local television promotion, marketing and design. With a combined membership of over 3,000 companies and individuals drawn from more than 70 countries, PromaxBDA is a truly international organization uniting the individuals who will pioneer tomorrow's electronic and broadcast media.
ABS-CBN International has joined its parent company, ABS-CBN Corporation in the Philippines, as recipients of PromaxBDA Awards. ABS-CBN has previously won Promax World Silver Awards for TV Spot "Mountaintop" in 2008, Station ID "Lipad ng Pangarap" and Print Category Studio 23 in 2006, Station ID "Isang Dugo, Isang Lahi, Isang Musika "in 2005 and a Gold Award for "Boto Mo, Ipatrol Ko" in 2007.
"This has been an outstanding year of awards for ABS-CBN in North America," said ABS-CBN North America Managing Director Olivia De Jesus. "Prior to us winning both Telly and PromaxBDA awards for TFC, we celebrated our CableFaxies Multicultural Marketing Award for MYX TV, the country's premier Asian American television network. To be in consistent company of big name winners like Fox, Turner Studios, NBC, Disney and Nickelodeon is strong proof that ABS-CBN has been raising the banner of Filipinos in the mainstream media industry."
"With these awards, we stand by our commitment to celebrate the best in the Filipino and reflect true Filipino sentiment in the global arena," said ABS-CBN Global COO Raffy Lopez. "We shall continue to deliver world-class service and content that Filipinos can be truly proud of."

ABS-CBN, The Most CREDIBLE TV Network in the Country
by Inquirer.net
If the results of a recent survey are to be believed, ABS-CBN’s decision to bring back veteran anchors Noli de Castro and Korina Sanchez last year is paying off.
In a recent StratPOLLS Inc. survey, “Kabayan,” Sanchez and Ted Failon— who anchor the network’s flagship news program, “TV Patrol”—emerged as the “most credible news reader team on television in the National Capital Region.”
StratPOLLS, which belongs to the media group of businessman Antonio Cabangon-Chua, said that 45.6 percent of respondents choose ABS-CBN’s anchor lineup, while 41.2 percent of respondents said they preferred the anchors of GMA 7’s “24 Oras.”
De Castro, Failon, and Sanchez also dominated the Top 5 among those voted as “top news anchor” by respondents. Kabayan topped that list with a rating of 86.8 percent.
These results echo the ratings performance of the newscast based on data from the network’s preferred TV rating firm Kantar Media. According to the rating firm, TV Patrol edged out 24 Oras, nationally.
Still, GMA 7 commands the lead in the important “Mega Manila” TV market, based on Kantar Media’s figures.
Expect GMA 7 to retaliate, of course, as both networks are known to fight tooth and nail over the issue of ratings.
