Ian Veneracion back with ABS-CBN

Actor Ian Veneracion is back with ABS-CBN after 8 long years.

Veneracion will be part of the series "Maria La del Barrio" with Erich Gonzales as the lead star.

"I'm very happy, I'm really happy to be back on ABS-CBN, " Veneracion told abs-cbnNEWS.com.

Veneracion's last project with the Kapamilya network was the show "Darating Ang Umaga" in 2003 with Eula Valdez and Vina Morales.

The actor, known for his performances in action movies, also shared his excitement to be part of "Maria La del Barrio." In the series, he will play Fernando de la Vega, father of Luis Fernando (played by Enchong Dee).

He said he got the role with the help of the show's director Rory Quintos.

"May project si Direk Rory at nire-request niya ako for the role of Fernando de la Vega. Nag-enjoy kami talaga at nag-bond kami talaga. Si direk, magaling siya director, mino-motivate ka niya," he said.

Veneracion said playing the role of a father role is not a problem for him.

As a real father to 3 loving kids, he's happy that he's been tapped for such a role.

"Now I'm happy...nagmamature ang roles ko, I'm doing a father role...Kung ano ako in real life, nag-go-grow din ang character ko," Veneracion said.

Yeng, to release live album soon

Anytime soon, Yeng is releasing a live album, a recording of “Yeng Versions Live,” which she did recently at the Teatrino in Greenhills. On the set, Yeng tackles her favorite icons like the Eraserheads, Apo, Florante, Yano, etc.

The live album can be considered a landmark in Yeng’s relatively young career. In many cases, such a blessing comes much later in their career, if at all.

Many breeze through their singing careers without having done a live recording. Yeng’s label, Star Records, has just shown its great faith in its artist that it has rewarded her with such a prestige album.

Yeng’s track record, marked by hit songs, a rating midnight show, can be a source of envy among peers in the industry. Possibly the leading female rock and OPM artist in her generation, Yeng isn’t without the proper credentials.

She writes her own material, an advantage that sets her apart from ordinary singers. Her songs are nothing to sneeze at either. They have melody, the lyricism of poetry, rhyme and reason.

“Rak en Rol,” the concert and not the movie (Quark Henares has a new film of the same title, although the two projects are not related at all), also features Sam Milby, Raimund Marasigan, “MU Live” co-host Tutti Caringal, and Gloc 9. Yeng credits Marasigan, formerly of the Eraserheads, as definitely a positive influence in her growth as a songwriter and artist.

Star Cinema Ironing Project for Erich Gonzales and Mario Maurer

Young star Erich Gonzales landed on the top trending local topics of microblogging site Twitter on Monday after rumors circulated that she will be doing a film with Thai actor Mario Maurer.

The hashtag #ErichGonzales made it to the 8th spot on Twitter's list of top trending topics in the Philippines on Monday morning while Star Cinema, ABS-CBN's movie outfit, landed in 6th place.

Several netizens shared their excitement over the rumored project.

"Erich Gonzales and Mario Maurer will be having a movie together under Star Cinema!! o.O lucky Girl.. im jealous!! :P," Genesis Ching tweeted.

"Omegosh! Is that true that Erich Gonzales and @ohohmario will pair under Star Cinema?" KC Labios said.

For her part, Jennie Tagubase said, "Erich Gonzales and Mario Maurer will be having a film under Star Cinema! :D im not a fan of Erich but im so excited na :)."

Maurer tweeted last July 8 that he will visit Manila soon. He did not say anything about a new movie project with Gonzales.

'See you soon Philippines,' he wrote.

But Joyce Ramirez of Publicity Asia, the group that will bring Maurer to the Philippines, said they still need to iron things out with Star Cinema.

"STAR CINEMA and I still need to iron out a lot of details including the SCRIPT in the meantime follow @PENSHOPPE for Meet & Greet details!," Ramirez tweeted.

She added, "THE SELECTION of the ACTRESS position will only be revealed after Mario Maurer reviews the SCRIPT - so nothing is FINAL yet! Thank you."

Meanwhile, Ramirez said she will be flying to Thailand next week to introduce Star Cinema to Maurer.

Maria La Del Barrio Premieres This August 15 on Primetime Bida

“Maria La Del Barrio” will feature two of the hottest stars in the industry today, Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee, as they give life to the characters of Maria Hernandez and Luis Dela Vega.

Under the direction of Rory B. Quintos and Richard Somes, “Maria La Del Barrio” delve into the lives of Maria and Luis as they search for true love, even amidst their pasts and their conflicting present lives.

100 Days to Heaven inspires senior actress Perla Bautista

Type na type palang panoorin gabi-gabi ng senior actress na si Perla Bautista at ng kanyang asawang si Benny ang ABS-CBN series na 100 Days (to Heaven).

Nai-inspire raw siya sa kuwento nito, na binibigyan ng ‘clue’ ang manonood kung paano nagkakaroon ng pag-asang mapunta sa langit ang isang taong namatay.

Hangang-hanga raw si Perla sa performance ng batang aktres na si Xyriel Manabat. Brilliant actress daw ang six-year-old at feeling niya, she (Xyriel) is an asset to the series.

Equally good din daw si Coney Reyes who, in real life, Perla says, is a good friend.

Connie calls her Ate Baby daw (Baby is Perla’s pet name).

Kung ilang projects na raw ang kanilang pinagsamahan at minsan nga raw, nang nagte-taping sila for Isabella, the Judy Ann Santos-Ryan Agoncillo starrer, binigyan siya ni Connie ng bagong cellphone nang mapansin nitong lumang-luma na ang ginagamit niya.

“Hanggang ngayon, gamit ko pa rin ang cellphone na bigay ni Coney,” ang natatawang sabi ni Perla.

In any case, sometime back ay nakatanggap siya ng call from one of the production staff ng 100 Days … asking her kung puwede siyang lumabas in a guest role.

Perla readily said yes daw.

Unfortunately, hindi na naulit ang tawag.

Biro tuloy namin sa aktres: “Hayaan mo, ’di pa naman pala nakakalipas ang 100 days mula nang matanggap mo ang offer.

“Hintayin mo na lang na tumawag uli. Tulad ng mga tauhan sa 100 Days…, ’wag kang mawalan ng pag-asa.”

Gary V to take short break from showbiz

Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano said he is planning to go abroad to take a short break from showbiz.

In an interview during a photo shoot for his new music video on Wednesday, Valenciano said he wants to study music abroad and then return home to teach Filipinos what he learned.

"May plano akong umalis for a while to study abroad and come back and teach what I learned, which is music production. I really want to do this, that's my effort in giving back to the industry that has given so much to me," he said.

"I brought up the topic again kasi 3 to 4 years ago I want to study but I couldn't kasi pumasok 'yung 25th anniversary ko, ganito at ganyan at teleserye theme song na I had to promote, and there's nothing wrong with that. I think na it's time to go tutal si Gabriel (his son), baka mag-aral din abroad. Si Jericho Rosales (his talent) nga nandoon sa [abroad] so if he can do it maybe I can do it also now. Tutal it's been 29, 30 years in the industry I think I can do something different."

Asked if he feels insecure with today's generation of singers, Valenciano said, "Wala na akong kailangang i-prove pa sa tao. I think the best thing I can do now is to give back, pay forward by helping the new generation achieve, maybe even more, than what I achieved."

Valenciano shot a music video for the song "Love Story, Where Do I Begin." The song is part of his album "With Love, Gary V," which is a compilation of all the teleserye and movie theme songs he recorded.

Star Power's K-La wins 2011 MYX VJ contest

"Star Power" finalist K-La Rivera is one of the 3 newest VJs of MYX music channel.

Rivera was proclaimed one of the winners of this year's Search for MYX VJ contest during an awarding ceremony held Wednesday night at The Block Atrium in Quezon City.

The 2 other winners are Joyce Pring, a Fine Arts student of the University of the Philippines, and Mike Advincula, team captain of the De La Salle University's swimming team.

"Thank you, thank you so much, everyone. I'm so excited. It's amazing, bring it on. A dream come true," Rivera said.

"I feel so blessed and the first thing [that] came to my head is 'Thank you, God. I've been given this opportunity. I'm so blessed.'"

Rivera, Pring and Advincula are now part of the MYX family together with VJs Luis Manzano, Iya Villania and Nikki Gil, and previous winners Robi Domingo, Bianca Roque, Chino Lui Pio, Janine Ramirez and Nel Gomez.

ABS-CBN was named Asia's Best Employer Awards 2011 in recognition of the Kapamilya network’s valuable contribution in making it the most sought after employer, whose organizational framework covers being exemplary in learning and development initiatives, communicating distinctiveness in employee hiring, training and retention practices, and continuing innovation.

ABS-CBN was chosen after a research was done in every Asia-Pacific country by a team of independent professionals from different parts of Asia, which, after the research, submits its recommendations to a jury that identifies the final winners.

ABS-CBN President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Charo Santos-Concio, on the other hand, was conferred the Woman Super Achiever Award given to “Outstanding Women who have the vision, flair, acumen and professionalism to demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills in an organization, making changes and achieving results."

Both Asia’s Best Employer Brand and Woman Super Achiever awards, hosted by the Employer Branding Institute, World HRD Congress, Stars of the Industry Group and CMO Asia, came with a trophy and a citation to recognize the valuable contribution made by ABS-CBN and Charo Santos-Concio, respectively.

The award ceremonies were held at the SUNTEC Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre last July 22, 2011.

Artists gear up for the 2nd Star Magic Games

Star Magic artists gear up for the much awaited and heart pumping action in the 2nd Star Magic Games on July 31. Star Magic stars headed by Piolo Pascual, Angelica Panganiban, John Lloyd Cruz, Kim Chiu, Enchong Dee and Gerald Anderson are full force as they participate in various games.

In cooperation with ABS-CBN Cable Channels and Print Media Group, the event is going to be a head to head competition between four competing teams (blue, green red, and yellow). Star Magic artists will compete in various games namely basketball, volleyball, badminton, dodgeball, tug of war and fun games. The main event is an all-star exhibition game between Star Magic Basketball Team of Rayver Cruz and Gerald Anderson, and ASAP Rocks Team of John Pratts, Gab Valenciano,Vhong Navarro, Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera.

Team captains Carlos Agassi, Drei Felix, JM de Guzman and Joem Bascon will take the lead in their respective teams for the basketball games. Volleyball game team captains are Bettinna Carlos, Dionne Monsanto, Cherry Lou and Angelica Panganiban.

Star Magic kids Zaijian Jaranilla and Xyriel Manabat will take the challenges in the kids division fun games while Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo are team leaders in the pre-teens division.

Randy, John, Rico J thrilled over 1st single together

"Happy Yipee Yehey" hosts Randy Santiago, John Estrada and Rico J. Puno shared their excitement over their first single together.

The single, titled "Na, Na, Na, Na, Na," is part of the noontime show's album.

"This is our first single and [it] will be part of [the] 'Happy Yipee Yehey' album at sana po ay mag-enjoy kami," Santiago said.

Puno, the show's newest host, believes that he, Estrada and Santiago are destined to be together in "Happy Yipee Yehey."

The seasoned pop artist said they will do their best to give their viewers a great show.

"'It's destiny, you cannot argue with perfect combination. 'Yun ang dating sa akin the first time I was with them," he said.

"Wala kaming ibibigay sa inyo kung hindi kasiyahan."

For his part, Estrada said, "Ang mga antics namin ay spontaneous, hindi namin pinag-iisipan at pinaplano. At noong nag-uusap kami sabi namin 'let's just be ourselves kasi lalabas naman 'yan.'"

Erich Gonzales talks about Maria La Del Barrio

Erich Gonzales shared that she is both excited and nervous about the "Maria la del Barrio" remake, the newest program on ABS-CBN's primetime block.

Here, she plays the character of Maria, a poor young lady who falls in love with the wealthy Luis Fernando, to be played by Enchong Dee.

It will premiere on August 15.

"'Yung nerbiyos, 'yung pressure, 'di nawawala 'yun pero worth it po talaga at masaya kami sa outcome. So sana po ay suportahan nila at panoorin ang 'Maria la del Barrio,' pinaghirapan po namin ito," she said.

Gonzales first announced that she will be doing this project in December last year.

The show got delayed since they had to wait for the approval of Televisa, the producer of the original "Maria la del Barrio," among other reasons.

"Naging matagal kasi maraming inayos at in-adjust sa script tapos maraming dinagdag. Kagaya ng sinabi ni direk Quintos (Rory Quintos) ay hinintay pa ang approval ng Televisa," she said.

ABS-CBN's remake of "Maria la del Barrio" also stars Paw Diaz, Jake Roxas, Katya Santos, Gio Alvarez, Atoy Co, Jane Oineza, Badjie Martiz, K Brosas, Ian Veneracion and Angel Aquino.

Erich speaks up on rumored project with Mario Maurer

Young actress Erich Gonzales said she is overwhelmed by the idea of working with Thai actor Mario Maurer.

Her upcoming film with Maurer remains a rumor, but Gonzales still thanked her fans and all those who are looking forward to the project.

She shared that she is also a fan of Maurer, particularly in the movie "Crazy Little Thing Called Love."

"Sa ngayon po ay hindi pa napag-uusapan pero happy ako na matuloy 'yan, 'yung ma-consider lang sobrang happy ako," Gonzales said during a press conference for the remake of popular Mexican telenovela "Maria la del Barrio" where she is the lead star.

"Masaya po ako at salamat po sa kanila (fans), tignan po natin kung matutuloy po."

Donaire signs four-year deal with Top Rank

World bantamweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire has inkeda four-year contract with Top Rank and will figure in a title fight on the undercard of the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito WBA light middleweight title fight at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden on Dec. 3.

Initial efforts by Top Rank were aimed at a unification bout with WBA champion Anselmo Moreno last May 28, but the deal fell through.

Donaire, the WBC and WBO champion, bolted Top Rank and signed with Golden Boy Promotions.
Donaire returned to the Top Rank fold when former judge and arbitrator Daniel Weinstein ruled that GBP could not deal with Donaire while he was under contract with Top Rank.

Promoter Bob Arum told the Inquirer he had “big plans” for Donaire and was putting together a fight card on Oct. 3 between WBO super bantamweight champion Jorge Arce and WBC champion Yoshiaki Nishioka and that “both guys will sign for the winner to fight Donaire for the WBC 122 pound title.”

In a news release, Donaire and Top Rank president Todd DuBoef announced that they will “move forward together in promoting Donaire’s stellar professional boxing career.”

Donaire is ranked No. 3 in the pound-for-pound rankings of the Ring Magazine.

Singer-actress Sarah Geronimo only has one wish for her 23rd birthday—an antique turntable.

“‘Yung gusto ko turntable. Gusto ko ‘yung antique na gano’n,” Sarah, who turned a year older last July 25, shared on “Showbiz News Ngayon” on the same day.

“Gusto ko lang talaga na makikita ‘yung plaka na umiikot tapos kung paano nilalagay ‘yung pin, ‘yung needle, gano’n,” the singer added.

Asked whether having a boyfriend is also on her birthday wish list, Sarah evaded the question by quipping, “Gusto kong maging personal assistant ni Mr. Piolo Pascual.”

But kidding aside, Sarah nevertheless replied, “Hindi pa talaga tamang panahon para ma-in love, eh. Once na ma-in love ako, nag-iiba talaga, eh, kapag puro love, love, love. Siguro talaga ‘pag right time na,” she said.

But her wishes aren’t all material in nature. “Sana patuloy pa kung ano ‘yung meron ako na success at madagdagan ‘yung relationship ko sa family. Sa Panginoon, sana mas strong pa ‘yung aking faith at

mag-grow pa as a person,” Sarah related.

The singer was feted a birthday celebration on “ASAP” last Sunday, July 24, for which Sarah was grateful.

“Sobrang thankful [ako] sa aking ‘ASAP’ family kasi nga ever since naging Kapamilya ako talagang ‘yung kanilang suporta, sobrang all out.”

Present, too, during the “ASAP” celebration was immigration lawyer Atty. Michael Gurfinkel, the man helped her with her papers in her recent one month vacation to the US to study music.

“Thankful ako sa kanila. Gusto ko ring masubukang mag-aral, mag-lessons doon para ma-boost lang ‘yung self confidence ko.”

Sarah has also expressed excitement over talks that her follow-up movie with Gerald Anderson is now being planned. The two teamed up in the highly successful rom-com movie “Catch Me I’m In Love.”

“Siyempre ‘yung pressure lagi namang nandodoon ‘yon kasi mas mataas ang expectation ng mga tao ngayon. I’m praying na mas maging maganda itong [bagong] proyekto namin ni Gerald.”

Actress Anne Curtis is elated over her inclusion in Yes! Magazine’s Top 20 celebrity endorsers for 2011.

“Siyempre nakaka-flatter. It just makes you happy na nandu’n ‘yung trust na binibigay sa akin,” said the actress, who ranked 12th in the list.

“I’m happy kasi dito din sa mga commercials na ‘to binigyan ako ng chance (na) kumanta. Ang bongga, ‘di ba?” she continued, referring to one TVC where she actually sang.

“It’s so happy to be able to do something that you love and have fun while doing it,” she happily noted on “Showbiz News Ngayon,” July 25.

And speaking of singing, Anne related that her maiden album would be out in the record bars next month.

“Ang target month actually is August. We’re really finishing all of the songs and finalizing ‘yung line up.”

The album titled “Anne-Bisyosa,” according to the actress’ past interview, is “a fun album lang, not to be taken seriously.”

“I announced it on Twitter and it was trending for the whole night. Nakakatuwa,” Anne said on abs-cbnNEws.com, July 17.

She described her guts to record an album as “kahit nga minsan wala sa tono, walang imposible kapag determinado.”

“I've been waiting 14 years for an album. I’m a frustrated singer kasi,” she added.

In the “SNN” interview, Anne corrected the misconception that her boyfriend, Erwan Heussaff, only met her family recently.

“Last year pa ‘yon actually. Matagal na. Last year pa sila nag-meet actually,” she clarified, explaining, “This year hindi siya nakasama because of work.”

She shared that Erwan has become some sort of a family member as “any time naman that he’s free and wala siyang work, of course, he’s always invited sa family gatherings.”

Fil-Canadian talent Maria Aragon recalls how she got hooked on music and performing

Maria Aragon breaks down, covers her face and tries to stifle the tears as she appraises her luck after arriving in Manila for the first time last Wednesday.

“I saw children who don’t have money and are not going to school. I just feel very blessed for the past couple of months. It’s really a big thing for me,” the precocious Filipino-Canadian Internet sensation tells the Inquirer.
Aragon made waves early this year when a homemade video of herself performing Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” went viral on YouTube—eventually catching the American pop superstar’s attention.

Going Gaga

Lady Gaga went on to invite Aragon to sing with her in front of a full-house audience at the 24,000-capacity Air Canada Center in Toronto last March. A few weeks prior to the concert, Aragon appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Life for Aragon has never been the same. Taking an early break from school last June, she went to shoot a commercial for cell phone maker HTC in Vancouver and had a solo concert there after meeting up with her cousins.

Then she proceeded to Ottawa and sang the national anthem on Canada Day, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in attendance.

Aragon is in Manila to record an album with Star Records. But she’s not an exclusive artist of ABS-CBN. She’ll be in the country until the end of August, says her manager Jeng Guiyab.

Her debut album, says Aragon, will have five tracks, including a cover of the tune that made her famous on YouTube, “Born This Way,” a Lea Salonga song and a new Vehnee Saturno composition.

Aragon recalls having a natural liking for music as early as she could remember. “I was maybe 3 or 4 when I used to watch my dad singing Beatles songs on the karaoke.”

It was also her father, Veni, who taught her how to sing. The first song she learned was “Maybe” by King Girado, a brother of Filipino singer Nina.

From then on, Aragon was hooked on music. She found herself singing in the shower, at school and during family gatherings.

Playing by ear

Learning to play the piano, Aragon adds, also came naturally. She recounts seeing her brother Jezette play the instrument and write songs with it. “It was boring to sing on the karaoke,” Aragon says, “and I thought maybe I should learn to play the piano, too, so I have something else to offer the audience. I figured out the chords myself and played it by ear.”

As far as influences are concerned, Aragon names two: Beyonce, whom she saw the first time she watched a concert in Winnipeg; and Michael Jackson. She thinks Beyonce “has natural talent, a wide vocal range, the whole package,” while Jackson is an idol because “he lived and breathed music, aside from doing charity work.”

Among local artists, Aragon says she looks up to Charice and admires the stars of ABS-CBN whom she watches regularly on The Filipino Channel back home in Winnipeg.

As she looks forward to record her album, Aragon points out that the songs will reflect her age and won’t be about love.

Asked to expound, she says some of the tunes will be message-driven: “You don’t have to think about just where you are, but also about the rest of the world, because there are so many things happening around us, like people suffering.”

If this young girl sounds serious, listen to her recall her early childhood: “I didn’t get to play much with toys, I was more interested in how they’re made. That’s why I wanted to be a toy maker when I was in kindergarten. I kinda think dolls are scary.”

She even wants to be a social worker or an activist, if not an artist “because I like making things. I’d like to make a difference and help bring change.”

But right now there’s an album waiting to be recorded and she can’t complain:

“I love doing what I’m doing now. If this goes on, I would really be grateful for it. I would like to write songs, too, but at this point I’m not inspired yet. I want it to come naturally.”

'Sharon Cuneta lost at least 6 inches off her waist'

Megastar Sharon Cuneta, who just returned home from the United States, is planning a big "surprise" for her fans: a slimmer body.

One of her friends, hairstylist and makeup artist Fanny Serrano, made the statement on Wednesday during a press conference for his endorsement for Novuhair hair products.

According to him, Cuneta lost at least 6 inches off her waist thanks to a strict diet.

"Kasi alam mo ang bewang niya from 40 plus [inches] ay nasa 34 [inches] na ngayon," he said, adding, "Sabi niya sa akin na magugulat kayo."

Serrano said Cuneta was inspired to lose weight while hosting ABS-CBN's reality show "The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition."

"Na-touch siya doon sa 'Biggest Loser,' na-touch siya. Hindi ba, iyak nang iyak lagi ang mga contestant doon? Ang ganda talaga ng show. Doon, nakikita mo iba na siya," he said.

"'Yung ibang tao sinasabi 'ano ba 'yan, si Sharon ang taba-taba.' Sabi ko 'maghintay kayo, doon sasabay si Sharon, 'yun ang purpose kaya siya nilagay diyan [sa show].'"

Some groups earlier scored Cuneta for her Marie France billboard along EDSA , which was allegedly retouched to make her look slimmer.

The Megastar maintained that her "before and after" pictures on the billboard were real, saying that she would never deceive the public.

Meanwhile, Serrano said Cuneta might do a movie with former husband Gabby Concepcion after "Biggest Loser."

He will also be doing a project with the Megastar soon, the beauty expert added.

"After nito (Biggest Loser), gagawa na ng movie talaga [si Sharon]. (Sharon-Gabby?) Yes, baka mag-KC na din," he said, referring to Cuneta's daughter with the actor.

Indie actress Mercedes Cabral said her newest leading man Zanjoe Marudo is a true gentleman when it comes to doing sensitive love scenes.

Woman in Azkals 'scandal' not a UP Physics grad

A glamor model who got linked to a rape rumor involving members of the Philippine Azkals national football team did not graduate with an Applied Physics degree from the University of the Philippine in Diliman, a university official said Monday.

Amanda Coling took up BS Applied Physics but transferred to another course in the university, according to Jethro Salapare, acting college secretary at the UP College of Science.

"Ms. Wynnel Amanda Coling (Wynnel Joy Coling) is NOT a graduate of ANY degree programs offered by the College of Science, UP Diliman. Thank you," Salapare said in a Facebook post.

The Office of the College Secretary (OCS) is responsible for the accuracy and safekeeping of undergraduate student academic records. It is also tasked with administering undergraduate student services such as students' admission, readmission, shifting, leave of absence, registration, dropping, disqualification, and graduation.

The OCS also takes charge of identifying undergraduate University and College Scholars every semester and certifies the graduation of undergraduate students with honors.

"She (Coling) was a former BS Applied Physics student in UP Diliman... then 1st sem AY 2007-2008, she transferred to Library Science also in UP Diliman," he said.

"I dunno na what happened after that," he added.

"She's a CS student from 2000-2007 then transferred to ILIS. Basta wala syang degree na nakuha sa CS... madami dami din sya nakuhang Physics subjects," Salapare clarified.

Coling made the rounds in entertainment gossip shows on Sunday over the rumors linking her to the alleged rape incident.

'I am the alleged victim'

She neither confirmed nor denied the rumor and said she will issue an official statement through her lawyer on Monday.

"Ako iyung alleged na biktima (I am the alleged victim)," she said in one show.

Coling said she wanted to keep mum on the rumor linking her to the reported rape incident until one tabloid writer approached her.

"Nagpakilala siya as a sports writer from some peryodiko. He wanted to interview me daw. I was thinking, 'bakit lawyer ka ba?" she said.

"My friends were telling me don't trust anyone. You don't know who this guy is," she added.

She has not accused the Azkals of any wrongdoing and refused to comment on the alleged incident.

Condom promo show

Coling surfaced last week not to accuse the Azkals members of rape but to cry foul over being removed from the roster of a condom promo show allegedly because of the issue.

Her legal counsel, lawyer Apollo Sangalang, said the model was pulled out "because of the issue the management has heard about."

She has also come out in support of the national football team and said she wants the Azkals to beat Kuwait in their FIFA World Cup qualifying clash later this week.

"I have high regard for the team Azkals for bringing pride to our country and popularizing football," she said.

Martin a no-show on 'ASAP,' denies Sarah's comeback as reason

Martin Nievera nipped a supposed issue with Sarah Geronimo in the bud, saying that the young singer has nothing to do with his absence on "ASAP Rocks" on July 10.

Apparently, speculations arose that Nievera ditched the planned celebration for his 29th anniversary in showbiz on "ASAP" because it coincided with Geronimo’s return to the Sunday noontime variety show.

Geronimo returned to Manila recently from a month-long stay in the US where she took up dance and singing lessons. But with Nievera's absence from the show becoming a topic among his Twitter followers, he had to reply to the queries.

“Attention everyone! My sadness yesterday has nothing to do with Sarah!

“Sarah has NOTHING to do with any of this as far as I am concerned,” Nievera posted on Monday.

Perhaps what led his Twitter followers to believe that the singer has ill-feelings towards Geronimo was his reply to a follower’s tweet addressed to him on Sunday: “bakit c sarah may welcome back prod c @4eversinging4u wala?”

“thats an even better question. if i ask that question then it shows an element of insecurity. Sakit nga,” Nievera's reply read.

Nievera’s tweet, “its better to be a diva pala...,” also on Sunday, gathered reactions from his followers as well, who hoped he was not referring to Geronimo.

“no no what i mean is being demanding or stobhorn. Sarah is none of the above. NOT a Diva. i only said that because i am NOT a Diva either, but most of the time the ‘Divas’ or ‘Divos’ or their managers get the better i was speaking about the definition or description of a Diva. I was not referring to anyone in particular,” one of Nievera’s replies read.

In a separate tweet, the veteran singer said, “walang issue! Mahal na mahal ko si Sarah!”

“there is no problem with Sarah! There NEVER is!” he stressed in another.

On Sunday, a somber Nievera posted tweets expressing disappointment over being “forgotten.”

“All of a sudden i don't wanna celebrate my 29 years in showbiz.

“If there is one thing i would want after my 29 years in the business it would be to simply be remembered.”

When a follower asked him about his tweet, Nievera replied rather cryptically, “the people u least expect forget.”

Nievera also reacted to friend and "ASAP Rocks" co-host Gary Valenciano’s tweet announcing Geronimo’s comeback.

“I believe that in hebrew the translation of the word princess is...Sarah. Yes tweeps she's back and she's ready to rock ASAP mamaya,” Valenciano said.

“hey bro i am back too. remember me? Your ‘bro?’” Nievera replied.

Valenciano answered Nievera, saying, “i know you are but what happened? I had all my stuff set aside for you then found out you were absent. You ok?”

“you are asking me now? You only noticed i was not beside you now?” Nievera retorted.

It also became apparent that Nievera’s mood on Sunday was somehow caused by the treatment he claimed he gets from "ASAP."

“even though i have been out for 2 months i was not needed today,” his reply read to a fan who asked him why he wasn't on "ASAP Rocks" that day.

When a fan plugged his supposed anniversary celebration on "ASAP Rocks," Nievera replied, “there is no celebration for my 29th. Maybe next year.”

“i think the 29th year in showbiz wold have been a nice thing to shout about,” he mused in another response to a fan.

The Concert King went on to express his feelings on Monday through the popular microblogging site:

“u wanna know the sad truth? only if u have a persistent manager can u get the treatment u wish u had.”

“loyalty, faithfulness, being there from the 1st day, NONE of this matters. all u need is a loud demanding manager.”

“why is it the good guy always finishes last?”

“But maybe my sadness stems from the reality that ASAP can do without me. I see it for myself. It's a sad happy pain.”

Despite this, Nievera clarified that “in my 29 years in the business 16 of those years were on ASAP. I LOVE ASAP” and that he is still with ABS-CBN.

Nievera did not elaborate further on the reason for his supposed sadness, saying, “Even in this business there are growing pains.”

“Progress is progress. Accepting it is half the battle,” he said.

Controversial actor Albie Casiño shoots MMK episode with Erich Gonzales

Earlier this week, some reports speculated whether or not Albie Casiño went to the United States to avoid the controversies that he has been involved in.

It will be recalled that when Andi Eigenmann announced her pregnancy recently, many people believed that Albie is the father of her child. However, Albie's mother, Rina Casiño, posted a tweet saying: ""no ones denying nor confirming. Just saying he is not her 1st bf & I didnt hear ms jaclyn say Albie did u?"

On June 30, E-Live host and entertainment columnist Ogie Diaz quoted Mrs. Casiño as saying: "Walang problema kung anak ko ang nakabuntis ke Andi. Blessing yan. And we welcome DNA Test."

As a result, Andi's father, Mark Gil, granted an interview on The Buzz last July 10 to talk about the pregnancy of his daughter. He did not reveal the identity of the father of Andi Eigenmann's baby but he did give this strongly worded message: "If you don't want it, then you won't have it!"

With regards to rumors speculating whether Albie left the Philippines or not, PEP.ph asked the people in charge of the upcoming episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya. According to them, Albie was last seen taping for this MMK episode last Tuesday, July 12.

Albie was supposed to be part of an upcoming Kathryn Bernardo-Julia Montes movie but management decided to give his role to Enrique Gil.

In the July 16 episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya, Erich Gonzales stars as Grace, an illegimate child who fights for her right to dignity. Albie Casiño, Ana Capri, Cris Villanueva also star in this episode directed by Nick Olanka.

Marcelito records debut album

"Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2" grand winner Marcelito Po Moy is excited about recording his debut album.

"Mayroon na po akong album. Dalawa pa lang [na kanta] ang nare-record namin. Hindi pa tapos ang recording namin at tatapusin pa lang 'yong pangatlo," Po Moy said during an interview at a photo shoot for his new CD.

The singer admitted he's having a hard time completing the CD because he has to do the duet alone.

"Oo, mahirap talaga. Ilang oras din kaming nagre-record doon. Matagal. Kasi inuuna ko muna ang babae [na boses] tapos lalaki [na boses] na naman," he said.

Po Moy said his album under Star Records will include songs like "Prayer", "Hanggang Ngayon", "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang" and "Forever."

Life changing experience

The newbie recording artist said he still can't believe that he won in the talent show.

He admitted that he is really adjusting to his newfound career.

"Maraming nagbago tulad ng pagkilala ng tao sa akin. Dati 'di ka kilala. Ngayon kakilala ka na. Marami akong natututunan talaga," said Po Moy, who is planning to buy his dream house soon.

"Nahihirapan ako sa guesting guesting. Minsan wala na akong tulog," he said.

Aside from doing the album, Po Moy said he is also gearing up for his first international tour with other Star Magic artists.
