Mula sa Puso bids goodbye

As “Mula Sa Puso” bows out of the television screens this week, its lead stars thanked all viewers who have avidly followed the series.

In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon,” actress Lauren Young and actor JM de Guzman said they grew to be who they are now because of “Mula Sa Puso.” Both stars said they are grateful that they had the opportunity to play their roles in the series.

“Very thankful na ito ang isa sa mga projects na I got to show the people ang mga natutunan ko. Mamimiss ko talaga yun,” said Young.

“After nitong ‘Mula Sa Puso,’ mas lalo akong ginanahan to take other roles na mas challenging, mas mabigat kaysa sa role ni Gabriel. Masasabi ko na ang laki talaga ng natulong sa aking ng show bilang isang aktor,” he said.

Young, however, said she is sad that the series is ending.

“Nakakalungkot lang na lahat to mag-e-end. Parang kailan lang nagsimula siya. Ito naging close na kami tapos napakaganda ng kuwento,” she said.

Both of them called on the public to not miss the remaining episodes of the series.

“Itong 'Mula Sa Puso' talagang pinaghirapan po namin. Alam ko sinubaybayan siya ng mga tao. Maraming salamat,” the actress said.

Siguradong exciting, siguradong shocking. Wag po kayong bibitaw,” de Guzman said.

“Mula Sa Puso” airs daily before “TV Patrol.”

Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo Makes Her TV Comeback Via ‘Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition’

A new Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo returns to television through the much-awaited kiddie cooking reality show “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition.”

For the very first time in her career, the Philippine’s Queen of Soap Opera will dabble in hosting as she leads the search for the finest young amateur chef in the country.

Joining Judy Ann, or Juday to her family and fans, are world-renowned Filipino chefs Fernando “Ferns” Aracama, Rolando “Lau” Laudico, and JP “Jayps” Anglo in the newest reality franchise from the group that brought you phenomenal hits “Pinoy Big Brother,” “Pinoy Dream Academy,” and “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition.”

They will be the ones to guide the kiddie chefs and judge the dishes they will cook up on their way to becoming the first Pinoy Junior MasterChef who will win a culinary scholarship and P1 million.
Juday shared that she was almost at tears during their first taping because she has been a fan of Junior MasterChef editions in the United Kingdom and Australia. (The Philippines is the third country in the world to produce its own Junior MasterChef.)

Aside from being awed by their set, which is a larger and arguably better version of the original MasterChef kitchen, she also felt nervous as she was embarking on a new field in her career.

“I really need to give my best in this program to make sure that the overwhelming support and trust ABS-CBN is giving me for this project won’t be put to waste. Hosting is not my forte but I’m willing to learn,” she said.

But if you ask ABS-CBN Business Unit Head Laurenti Dyogi, Juday has already exceeded their expectations as she can instantly connect with the kids and the chefs.

“She’s the perfect choice as host for Junior MasterChef. Her passion for cooking and love for children come out naturally in the show. At first, she was still adjusting but eventually you can already see she’s enjoying and how she’s able to become an inspiration to the kids,” he explained.

The award-winning actress, who is a mother of two, said unlike her previous work, her job as host doesn’t require any acting at all. She said whenever she’s in front of the kids, the mom in her takes charge.

“This show is all heart. The kids are really cute and smart so it’s hard not to have a connection with them. But as a host and their mom in the program, I’m the one to balance their emotions. We don’t want to hurt their feelings but we also need to be honest when it comes to the taste of their dishes. When they’re about to cry, I have to be strong and raise their spirits. You have to be ready with words of encouragement for them,” she shared.

With the help of Chef Ferns, Lau, and Jayps, all accomplished chefs and restauranteurs, Juday said kids will surely learn from every challenge or task they face in the program.

Dyogi expects viewers to enjoy the unique flavor of “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition,” just like how the rest of the world has received the other editions of MasterChef.

“Most of reality shows in the Philippines are looking for singers or performers. This time we’ll showcase cooking of kids and how magnificent and awesome they are in creating dishes out of passion and love for their families. We’ll join them as they try to reach for their dreams and we will be there to ensure they are equipped for their dream career,” he said.

Don’t miss the first taste on the reality show that will make you smile, cry, and be inspired to cook, whether you are young or old, an aspiring chef or simply a food lover in “Appetizer: The Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition Primer” on August 20, Saturday on ABS-CBN. Meet the 60 young kitchen stars and find out who will advance to the Top 20 on the premier of “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition” on August 27, Saturday also on ABS-CBN.

Cristine Reyes tired of doing sexy roles

Sultry actress Cristine Reyes is getting tired of doing sexy roles.

In an interview during a press visit for her series "Reputasyon," Reyes said she feels that it's already time to move on.

"Nagsasawa na ako sa sexy roles. Iwan na natin sa iba yon. Gusto ko yung iba naman," Reyes said.

The actress admitted that she's enjoying roles that actually showcase her acting prowess than her physical features.

"Hindi ako nahihirapan sa mga seryosong role. Actually, mas gusto ko siya," she said.

She said that she was really happy when "Reputasyon" was offered to her. In the series, Reyes portrays the character of Agnes delos Santos who will do everything to save her reputation.

She said the show gives her the chance to show that she's a real actress.

Currently, Reyes is also doing a film with Derek Ramsay and Anne Curtis.

Inspirational ‘teleserye’ (100 Days to Heaven) teaches life lessons

The people involved in the “100 Days” teleserye should give themselves a well-deserved pat on the back: Not only has their show won plaudits from viewers, it’s also been made the teaching topic of a church sermon! We can state this with unimpeachable authority, because we heard the sermon in our parish last month.

That’s right, the priest was profuse in his appreciation of the teleserye’s ethical pertinence and other inspiring resonance, aside from giving high marks to its players, led by Coney Reyes, Jodie Santamaria and child star Xyriel Manabat.

He drew a number of lessons from the series’ themes, characters and conflict. Specifically, he urged churchgoers to learn from the story of Anna Manalastas, about the great importance of making amends, asking for forgiveness, attaining closure and deserving a second chance.

Conducive to empathy

“100 Days” may not end up as big a hit as “May Bukas Pa” was a couple of seasons ago, but it’s doing okay on its own as this season’s most inspiring TV series. It’s interesting that even church sermons are paying tribute to the show’s capacity to teach and inspire viewers.

Other TV shows should do more of this, because its storytelling format is more conducive to natural empathy than formal “teaching points.”

Some years ago, we were similarly surprised and gratified to hear Mass at Sto. Domingo Church, and hear a famous preacher base his sermon—on one of our columns! The specific essay that merited his interest was a piece we wrote about professionalism in the broadcast media—and we were frankly surprised that he was able to transform it into a larger paradigm and template for responsible living in general.

Thus did we realize that what we write sometimes has beneficial effects and resonance that are much more potent than we originally intended. As a result of this psychic affirmation of value and influence, we resolved to write with even greater sensitivity and care.

Nor was this the last time that we heard a church sermon based on something we had written. Last year, the column topic that a preacher used as “teaching point” was the misuse and abuse of child talents in show business. The priest urged all parents and teachers to be more aware of the vulnerability of the not quite fully formed sensibilities of children, whose psychological welfare is often taken for granted.

Dovetailing back to “100 Days,” we urge the creative staffers behind the show to take heart from the positive reactions it’s been getting, and redouble their efforts to make it a more tellingly affective, instructive and inspiring viewing experience.

As the story segues into its final third and Anna begs forgiveness from the daughter she so unfeelingly gave away years ago, the stage is being set for its most inspiring “life lesson” of all!

Enchong Dee talks about multiple kissing scenes with Erich Gonzales

"Unang-una, kasi kailangan naming i-consult yung script sa Televisa from Mexico. So, kailangang i-approve.

"Tapos it will take time.

He-he," kuwento pa niya.

KISSING SCENES.

Kasi, kumbaga... kasi per script matagal yung time frame.

"So, di ko alam. Parang kissing scene. Kissing scene.

Gano'n."

"Wala, siyempre," matipid niyang sagot.

THE SWIMMER.

Kailangang i-give up yung career," sabi niya.

Enchong defends Erich over 'bad attitude' rumors

Actor Enchong Dee came to the defense of actress Erich Gonzalez, who is being rumored for having a "bad attitude" behind the camera.

In an interview with Push.com.ph during the press conference of “Maria la del Barrio,” Dee said Gonzales should be given another chance because it would be unfair for her if she’ll be judged based solely on speculations.

Sana mas kilalanin pa kami,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dee revealed that he and Gonzales are already looking forward to “Maria la del Barrio” which is set to premiere on August 15.

Kapag ginawan mo siya ng version you have to live up to the expectation of the public,” he said.

Dee said he is excited to share with their fans the product of their hard work.

The Mexican "Maria la del Barrio" was originally aired in 1995 to 1996. It starred popular Mexican actress Thalia and Fernando Colunga.

John Lloyd: No truth to 'bar-hopping' rumors

Actor John Lloyd Cruz denied rumors that he has been frequenting bars and drinking a lot lately and that he is no longer happy in his relationship with actress Shaina Magdayao.

"Meron atang binuong ahensya ang mundo para trabahuhin [ang mga intriga sa amin] at 'wag kaming tantanan at siraan kami," he said in a taped interview aired on ABS-CBN's "The Buzz" on Sunday.

He also has a message for those who are spreading the rumors.

Cruz admitted his relationship with Magdayao in June last year. They celebrated their first anniversary as a couple last April.

Asked about their secret to a lasting relationship, the actor said, "Communication.

Singer-actress Vina Morales, for her part, said that he and Magdayao are "doing good." Morales is Magdayao's older sister.

"Sa daming intrigang dumating sa buhay nila, mga 'on the rocks' 'on the rocks' na 'yan eh di na kailangang pansinin," she said in a separate interview.

The actress said that she's more than willing to do the scene especially now that she lost weight.
